Crazy add on the classified

I agree with CharlieF, what if the guy is ok and reading this thread...that would be too bad. I like the idea of a fee to place your add. Maybe it would be too difficult, but what about the fee being fairly steep, and then most of it refunded to the seller after the transaction goes well. I’d be happy to deal with a fee if it would help stop scammers.

Except right now a lot of the prices aren't far off from retail. Add a "fairly steep" fee and that cost goes to the buyer. It also sounds like a logistical time consuming PITA for whoever is tasked with collecting and then refunding the fee or whatever portion of the fee.

dens228 that’s true, it would create an unwanted job lol. One thing for sure is I’ll definitely only buy from members I can talk with. The real brothers and sisters here wouldn’t mind a phone call because they are selling a good product and they aren’t trying to hide anything (or shouldn’t be trying to hide anything) and definitely not scamming.

Agee 100%, I sell a lot of fishing gear on FB Marketplace. I only sell locally and it's either face to face or we talk on the phone. Not text, talk. And if the price is too good to be true or the item is pretty much impossible to find for a good price............well then.................run away, run away......Sometimes a Google search of a photo will show the pic is not from the person claiming to sell the item.

Jeesh, the poor guy didn’t do anything wrong. Maybe he was just anxious to sell the gun so he made some dumb posts so he would meet the minimum requirements and list it.

That being said, I don’t buy things from people I don’t know or who don’t have quite a few positive feedbacks.

If he is legitimate, he probably won’t be posting on AGN anytime soon after all of this negative speculation.

Yes, I do remember reading about a new guy who sold his high end AG to a known member.

The sale came up good, but it was a face to face one, IIRIC 👍

Areed. With all the different pics I don't see a scam. Also someone mentioned he really wanted to be paid via PayPal. I'd bet probably 75% of transactions on here are via PayPal and I also always say I prefer PayPal. Doesn't mean it's a scam.

Now I do usually only deal with members who have been around awhile and who have contributed some. But we do all gotta start somewhere.

I’m a newbie here and agree there should be a probation period .Since airguns are in such high demand there perfect for scammers,I hate to say it but I was scammed last week by airgun.us everygun that’s been out of stock they had ,beautiful web site lots of reviews come up around 6 or 7 on search engine, ordered a bandit no order confirmation no nothing paid thru PayPal and disputed it ,he had now this gets me ticked because the us postal service tracking number which said it was delivered to me ,I checked the number and it said it was delivered, the website is no longer up I’m still waiting to hear back from post office, they want to talk to the carrier I said it’s a scam there was no delivery worry more how they hacked your system to create a phony delivery.PayPal was no help at all after doing some research this company pops up every couple months then shuts down, their website contact info was for Texas airguns out of Abilene I’ve been wanting some new toys for a while and when I saw they had them I just didn’t dig far enough, and of course my luck everyone got the gun in stock a week ago

Stoti, we have nothing to worry about. He will never see this because he’s not a participant of this forum. Just using it to sell what he doesn’t want. Not a big deal, just how it is under the current rules. Not right or wrong but definitely could be better/safer. Now if I started talking smack on you or some other active participant, I’m sure it wouldn’t go unnoticed.

When I want to buy or sell on the classified ads. I try to vet who I am dealing with. If I am selling, I will stick my neck out a little.............pay me up front, and I'll ship. If I'm buying; well that is a different story. I'll click on the posters profile and see how long they have been a member, what kind of accuracy they have, and mostly their posts. Sometimes it can be very telling if they are searching for post on how to cure a crappy shooting :$@(*%^& magnum that they just got. Then another post about how sorry they bought the $@(*%^& and need to move on. Then you see it listed in the classified ads as :" the best shooting gun I've ever owned hate to let it go " It is not always that obvious but many times you can detect a trend, Do your due diligence and hope for the best. The longer you have been a member, the more history you leave.

No one said he is a scammer. He followed the rules. 10 posts and you can list what you want on the classified. He played the system, we need to implement a change to the system. Maybe 90 days and 2 posts per week before you can sell on the classifides.

I signed up just to post here, because this thread is amazingly ridiculous. First thing I do if I don't trust someone or a deal, is I google their email, usually this shows me what other forums they've spammed their 'scam" on, etc. You google this guys email it goes to a church website and he's a pastor. Some of you guys are real scumbags www.fpfumc.org/small-groups/ See the email for the pastor? Same email as in the classifieds. LOL.

MOD EDIT: REMOVED PROFANITY

First of all I'd like to thank everyone that takes pride in calling Airgun Nation their home, and defending it from less than honorable people.

We were made aware of -michael-'s post yesterday by a concerned member.

We reached out to -michael- and it doesn't appear that he is trying to hide anything. He is new to the site, and he did meet the minimum requirements to be able to post in the Classified section. He explained that he is in fact a pastor and admitted that he has never sold anything on a site like ours before.

We are not vouching for this person, though you should know that:

  • He did not hesitate verifying his identity by sharing a state issued drivers license
  • His name is in fact Michael
  • The information on his license matches that of his profile
  • The geolocation of his posts matches the location of his license
  • He also added a handwritten note to accompany the product he is wishing to sell
  • All of his pictures appear to be unique

Should any of you have any other reasons that concern you please DM me.

-Michael

No one has called him a scammer. He played our system to his advantage. Thats all. We need to implement a change to our system so it becomes better than it is now.

I see you're a long term member. You joined today.

Got something to sell?

You've been a member for roughly 2 years. I was pretty up front and clear in that I registered SOLELY because of the egregiousness of your post. If I was somehow a longterm member on YOUR illustrious message board... 2+ years of talking to someone like YOU, would stop me from ripping you off? People get married and still cheat. You think you're somehow more special than my life partner? Because we talked about pellets? I think you're worried about scammers because you're too simple to avoid them. If I had any mercantile dealings with you, you would not be very happy. You're not an honorable or respectable person and deserve neither in my book.

Yeah I have something to sell you, some lithium. If you don't want to buy it, i'll give you some free advice, seek out your doctor and figure out why you're seeing charlie under every blade of grass. Living life as a paranoid schizophrenic isn't any fun, Mike.

So you joined a forum to solely attack a random dude because he made a comment that you didn’t agree with? And you think Mike’s the guy with problems? Good grief.

Yeah, I joined to say that it took me less than 5 seconds to find out the guy was a pastor. I know it took me less time to google the pastors email than it took for Michael anthony Lenardon to write that post... Do your due diligence before you post libel like Mike anthony Lenardon. I spent 5 minutes reading over his posts. over 40% of them are paranoid schizophrenic stuff, like his magazine misprint thread, and then emailing the manufacturer with this:

Well I shot them (Armory) off an email. Here's what I said:

How do I know you are a legitimate business. Your area code is for north america and you do not have an address for a brick and mortar business. None of your products that I looked at have any reviews. Honestly, you look pretty sketchy to me. Prove to me you're not.

Lets see if I get a reply
