Coyote Hit Hard! Need advice! HELP!!! VIDEO

Guys need you advice! Just hit a coyote and need to recover it tomorrow, if possible. Here is what happened-

I went out half hour past sunset. Wind was perfect, I tested my gun at the range for two hours and it was shooting well. (.25 AeA Challenger shooting 47grain solid boattails at 80fpe. Started calling and the coyote came after 10 minutes. I'm using my a Atn 4-8x LT and using my side mount scope-cam because it is cheapest way (sorry for the bad quality image.

So, the call was at 50 yards, and I estimated the coyote to be 70. I lined up the shot on my 2nd gash Mark (which is exactly 70 yards) and pulled the trigger. I heard a solid smack. Coyote went down in circles, rolled once. I thought it was over.....but then he got up and ran? After a desperate shot, I watch him run into an opening, then though i saw him drop. Gave him 45min the started the recovery.

I went to the last location i saw him, but no carcass. I found his prints in some sand, but no blood. I went back to where I shot him, no blood. Then I got worried and pulled out until morning.

What should I do? Does it look good from your perspective? How should I go about this? Did the shot look good in you opinion?

That shot looks like it should’ve ended his day. I’ve hit a dog broadside at about 40 yards and punctured at least one lung. The bitch ran and crawled under a structure 100-150 yards away and died later. I found out the next day. Sometimes it happens that way. Most dogs will jump in a circle licking, biting, or trying to see the hole and probably attempting to figure out what just happened to them after they’re shot. Then they run if they’re able to. That yote is going to die. The question is, where? You don’t always have to hit vitals square like we’re aiming for. You can hit an artery or nick an organ and it’s enough to dispatch an animal, just not the way we intend to. They’ll bleed out eventually. Look for it tomorrow. It’s likely underneath something, a downed tree, some rocks, or maybe in a thicket or stand of saplings is you have those sorts of areas available for it. If he didn’t make it to cover, when you get to the spot tomorrow look and see where or if the buzzards are circling. They may lead you to your carcass. Whatever you do, when you go looking it may be a good idea to keep a round chambered just in case.

After watch it 10x more time. I think he ran to a hard left just as he went off screen! What do you think? I'm nor sure, but I think so.

Looks like it ran to the left a ways and then went straight back off into the woods. At 1:22 it turned left and around 1:28 it looks like he ran straight back into the opening between the trees. I think investigating beyond that opening in the tree line tomorrow is a good place to start looking.

It bumpy terrain you can see his head flashing. It is fast when he turns left. Just a blimp across the screen.

You have me anxious for you. I really can’t tell what happened there. I’m waiting to see what you find and where you find it. I’ve seen you take a tougher shot than that. I’m confident that one’s going to expire if it hasn’t already.

Thanks man! I'll have a full update tomorrow!

I've heated up potatoes and apples yo practice headshots. Not enough precision with it. With that budget thermal only vitals. That's why I choose heavy solid boattails. He to the are to the left. At 1:38 he starts his death circle. I would have had him if it noticed it in the video it at the time I was looking for him.

I don’t know the POI of your rig but it seems the shot was a little high for a lung shot. Although I may be wrong. It does appear to be doing a death circle. Hopefully you find it tmrw and get yourself a nice pelt. Good luck
