Couple Grey Squirrels

Was packing up to take my oldest back to check trail cams and do alittle squirrel hunting when I noticed a number of squirrels out back. Squirrels are a horrible pest at my house as they dig up our bulbs and flowers, chew on the house, and have even eaten thru our electric service line to the house. Got out the .30 Marauder with 44gr JSB'S and got one at 80 yards the other at around 50 from the kneeling position.

Here is the squirrel play ground out back.

oldspookThat's reaching out and touching them. Bullets or pellets? I'd think that .30 shooting a pellet would just about stone them in their track, even on body shots.

That was with the 44gr JSB pellets. It knocks em stiff as far as you can hit them. I have a number of 100+ yard kills and they are always stone dead with the .30.

The one with the hickory nut I shot thru the shoulders for a solid double lung hit. He was the furthest and I took the easy kill shoot on him sense I didn't have a really steady rest from the kneeling position

The smaller female was turned away a bit so I shot her at the base of the neck with an exit thru the head.

I took my son to our farm about 10 miles from our house where we do most of our deer, turkey, and small game hunting. We really just went to check trail cams but took some airguns in case we ran into some squirrels. A short but wet storm only allowed enough time to check cams and hit the road. I had my .25 that I tuned down to 800fps with kings and when we arrived home, there was a bunch of bushy tails out back. I took a black squirrel at close to 100 yards shortly after getting out of our old farm truck but was late to recover as a near by hawk beat me to recovering the squirrel. This is atleast the 3rd time in just a few years that something like this has happened.
