Could you tell me what this is; squirrel?

Thought I shot a nice healthy New this morning but when going to clean the squirrel it seems to have some type of bacteria/disease eating at its skin, any ideas?

My wife says it's hard to diagnose skin conditions from a picture and could still be difficult even if you had a dead animal in handy but if she had to guess it's looks to her like scabies and not ringworm. Looks to her the squirrel was scratching it's fur off. obviously if the squirrel was still alive you could see the squirrel scratch itself and easier to diagnose. Since the squirrel is dead and she can't get a sample, you could diagnose if it's scabies if you start feeling itchy.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Safe to say I shouldn’t eat it and be careful handling them that look like it.

On another note, check it this out (albeit a terrible shot placement..) I shot tgis squirrel at about 32-33yds with my gamo magnum and H&N 18gr sniper magnums and it went clean thru both legs, it hit bone too, there was a shattered leg bone, impressive penetration.

(Having trouble with pics from cell, stand by)
