Cost of pellets?

Yup, I bought my M3 in .30 cuz I did not have a .30 yet and yes those big pellets and slugs is a bit spendy alright. With things going insane on the delivery of raw and finished goods the prices on everything is getting kind of ridicules. I was about to change the M3 into a .25 but found another gun so I can keep the .30 a .30 and continue to spend loads-of-cash on ammo. Lucky me.

If you buy enough pellets the shipping is not so bad. If you buy just a couple tins, with shipping included it can get stupid expensive to shoot your 30cal.

why, because they see you coming .. its wise to remember its an airgun at least for casual shooting .. splitting hairs be damed, cheap crosman pellets and a 22 or 17 are fine for everyday .. most of my low to mid pcp guns shoot better than most rimfires ive ever shot 'with' cheap ammo .. but if you get sold on the ultra high end i need competion level accuracy to be a man bs, your gonna pay for it ...

Fly,

Try Zan Projectiles, just click on the scrolling yellow Zan "flag," at page top. Bio is right, shipping not so bad, if you buy enough. I bought this in November, for an average price per pellet, shipping included, of .064 cents. Not sure what the .30 cost was, per pellet, as I did a mixed purchase, probably slightly higher, but still, nothing like the .22-25 cents, per pellet, on Amazon or eBay. WM

I started with shooting only .177 since most pellets were 1 cent or less.

After a while I also started shooting .22 cal which are more accurate than the .177 at slightly longer ranges, especially when there is wind.

I am also using CPHP in .22 and .177 most of the time and hey cost about 1-1.5 cents each.

I am only a long range plinker (60-70 yards) and see no point in using a higher caliber (.25, .30, etc) since the .22 hits my long range targets well enough.

Paying 4-8 cents for a .25 cal pellet, or 5-15 cents for a .30 cal pellet is meaningless to me.

That is why I got rid of my .30 and went down to .22. I can still shoot very accurately, and shoot much more for the same price!

Hard to beat the Pyramid Air prices when you maximize the buy 3, get 1 free, add on the AGN coupon (at a minimum) and order enough to get free shipping.

The coupon codes just before Christmas we’re as much as 18% off with free shipping and saved me a ton. Best deal I have seen since the pandemic started. At $0.02 a round, it wasn’t even close to centerfire.

IMO, .30 cal and up are just not for plinking, unless you're sponsored or have a bit of disposable income. I have a few .30 and larger guns, and they are for hunting. I sight them in, maybe try out some new ammo from time to time, and otherwise, they stay in the safe until just before a hunt. Then, I pull them out, check to make sure they're zeroed and working proper, then go hunt.

.22 and .25 are for plinking and light duty hunting. As mentioned, with 3+1 at PA with a coupon sprinkled on top, even .25 can be had at plinking prices (<$.04). You can be really cost effective with .177, but they're too small for my fingers, and where I live, the wind is always blowing, so .22 is as low as I go.

But yes, flinging .30 and up takes some jingle.

Back in the ol’ days one of the virtues of the pelletgun was the low cost of ammo. There were in general only .177 og .22 available. The .25s one could find was for low powered old airgun. A brick(500) of RWS .22 LR pistol match cost overhere aprox $28. 500 pcs of .35cal JSB 81grain cost $64.(no shipping added). I have just bought 4000 13,45 grain JSB .177 slugs for $167 including shipping. 200pcs .25cal Baracuda cost $8.50. When I bought whole sale pellets(over 100000)in the 2004s I got the .25cal baracudas for $3,5 per tin. I still got a lifetime supply. Today a tin(500)of .177cal JSB 10,34grain cost $13. Half price of RWS pistol match.

.30 cal is fun if you want to smack something hard. I also enjoy it in semi in my Leshiy 2. But the reality is that I can get just as much power at distance with a .22 airgun and a good slug.

If I shoot a 50gr .30 @ 880 fps (86 fpe) it only has 55 fpe @ 100 yards.

In another .22 setup I can shoot an Apex 36gr .22 slug @ 900 fps (65 fpe) and @ 100 yards it will still have 53 fpe remaining.

I'd say it's really application dependent but for plinking the expense of .30 doesn't make sense.

Could yall list the best site for buying pellets in bulk?

I bought my air rifle so I could shoot more often. At $30 for a box of target 9mm, and 5.56 isn't cheap either. I don't know what pellet prices were before 2021, but comparing an $100 range session, 100 rds 9mm, 100 rds in my AR, not including targets, range time (if indoors), gas and time.....

Well... Im happy as a clam when I see 250 shots for $10 in my backyard.

I know, I don't know how cheap lead was 10 years ago, but I certainly remember 2006 and being able to walk into any Balmart and buying a box of 9mm for $11.

Ammo, one of the best investments you can ever make.
