Cool find at the LGS

So I picked up an RWS 48/52 at my LGS for 75.00. Is there any way to tell what year it is. Also if I choose to keep it rather than trade towards an HW30 or R-7 what type or brand tune kit would you guys recommend ? Strange how I walked in looking to purchase a Glock 34 for club level steel and came out with an air gun and a stupid smile on my face. Any way what ever information you guys can provide regarding a rebuild kit, Identifying age, and any other helpful tips, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Looks like you made a good purchase.

The month and year should be stamped on the left side of the cylinder above the trigger. Look for the stamping "Made in West Germany" . Then in very small print you will see the date. I have to use a magnifier to read it. You should not have to remove the stock.
Take a couple photos of the anti-beartrap safety system if you rebuild it yourself.

Side note, Bob: I had a Glock 34, it was the worst handgun purchase of the hobby. On paper, it is great. But the corners of the extended magazine release dig into the thumb, and I didn't shoot it any better than I shot a Glock 17 or 21. I think it had an adjustable rear sight, but that's where the pros end. With the money I'd have saved by buying a 17, I could have put nice tritium ones on it. I shoot Berettas better, and I shoot my HiPower the best yet, even though it is an inexpensive one.

Here's my Hi-Power, it has the ring hammer, which doesn't bite like the original:

I had just put the Hogue grips on it, which are a 100% improvement.

It is given credit in the books, but in reality these days, it is forgotten because its magazines only hold 13 rounds. To me, it's an easier-to-shoot 1911 with double the capacity. CZ75s are also quite sweet, but harder to rack the slide.

It is a .177 and thank you all for the advice. it seems like as soon as I pulled my R-9 out of the safe after a 15 year hiatus I have in one month fallen into 3 more air rifles , the 48/52 , a daisy Avanti 853 and a Benjamin Trail NP2 in .22 cal. I am bit for sure. I don't know why I never got into the R-9 before. And Smaug , I also have the 17 , 19 , 26 , and 43. Just kind of felt like I should have the 34 as well. Like you though my real passion is not Glock's ,but rather high end 1911's and rimfire. Just cant seem to help myself. But for the backyard , this springer thing has totally consumed me. I bought a couple bags of those little green plastic army dudes and am setting them up all over the yard having an absolute blast knocking them over. Yes I am afraid I have the Bug. Again , thank you all for all the help.

Just did the first shooting of it. I don't know how to post pictures here, but the groups are not anywhere near as good as the ones I'm seeing here. It is about 3/4 to 1" at 20 yards. I am sure the problem is me. I have ordered a sample test pack from straight shooters and will begin to figure out which ammo it prefers. As for now I am just loving shooting little plastic army guys and dinosaur's in the back yard. This whole air gunner thing is amazing.
