Competition Electronics ProChrono DLX For Pellets

I have an FX Impact X mark II and would like to purchase a chronograph to be able to make adjustments.

Would like to get a Competition Electronics Pro-Chrono DLX but read a review stating a purchaser could not get it read a pellet passing through the chronograph. The purchaser said he was using an Olympic grade rifle but could not get readouts.

Has anyone here had any experience with the Competition Electronics Pro-Chrono DLX with pellets?

Thanks in advance for any help, I appreciate it.

Many may say buy the $200 FX radar but I have good results with THIS that replaced 2 of my finiky Shooting Chrony Beta and Gamma Master Chrony and paintball Shoot through the hole chrony.

Thanks guys.

I like the Caldwell Premium Kit but I would like to use a Bluetooth set up so I can use either on my phone or laptop. The Competition Electronics Pro-Chrono DLX has Bluetooth build in so I thought that would work better my use and it is the same price. I just don't want to purchase the Comp Electronics and then find out it would not work for pellets.

McCoulter here said it works for him except in low light conditions which I may have because at home where I will do the most shooting is under a lot of trees in the shade.

+1 to what "mcoulter" said. I also have one that I use for PCP's (as well as powder burners) and have minimal issues with it. Found that if the sun is at the wrong angle it doesn't pickup the shadow going across the sensors but I believe that is an issue with all similarly designed chronys. One of the guys at the range uses the FX dopler chrony with his airgun and likes it. My reservation about the FX chrony is not being able to use it with my powder burners BUT it was not designed for that. Whatever one you get it will help increase your knowledge of your airguns. Bottom line, have FUN.

I recently received my CE Prochrono DLX about 3 weeks ago and I really like it. Bluetooth connection is fast and I like the app layout. I also bought the Light Kit and the carrying case for the whole unit. I shoot at night as well and I get reliable readings. No more worrying about not having enough time in the day or shooting in shady areas to get reliable readings.

If I do go out in the field to shoot, I can always bring my extension cord and plug it into the outlet of my Tacoma. I do have an older CE ProChrono Digital that has worked for years. I picked up the DLX as a backup and as a second chrony for BC calculations. Compared to the FX Pocket Chrony, you have a wider range of velocities without having to change the settings. Although, the FX chrony is more compact and I'll give it that.

I happened upon a fellow shooter at my local range this week who was using a LabRadar. I asked him how he liked it. He said he liked it well enough "once you get it set up" and it had a lot of features. He said it often takes him several rounds to get the unit angled correctly. Never used one myself but had assumed that they were relatively easy to get into operation. The ProChrono has the advantage of first shot readings, if that is important. Works for pellets and on CF at 4000 fps. As noted previously, I've had issues with shadows later in the day causing loss of readings on the ProChrono but I bet some added lights would prevent that.
