Combro cb-625 chronograph

supposedly there are many happy users out in the UK. from personal experience: initially it was working fine. but then, first time i had to replace the batteries upon reassembly the display stopped showing some digits. all screws tight, still no luck. Had to guess what the numbers are. Ridiculous. Due to some bad contact on the LCD side.

All plastic nah not sturdy enough. there are 3 button batteries held in place by some wonder. I kept using if for a little while, then it slid off to the side and out of alignment and i shot one of the metal bits protecting the leds or detectors so i had to actually bend the sensors back to place. Could not be trusted anymore. Got a replacement housing was cheap not black but yellow just like the one on the picture. I think also gets affected by fluorescent tubes if you use it inside. replaced it by Airchrony, there is a similar product called shooting chrony, both great recommended.

I had to tap the barrel brace onto the unit with a hammer and screwdriver, the fit is so tight. Couldn't get it to register in Imperial. All I get is "ERR" What a piece of crap. Thanks for the Airchrony tip :)

there is a screw what sets how tight the plastic body is, but if you mess with the screws too much you end up like me, i guess too late for you too already hah
yes get one of those square housing one, i would avoid the V shaped other brands too, those are junk too. had one as well never worked outside.

i have got this one but with black buttons, and it has a cover which goes over the batteries. and the main switch is in the back. definitely i changed from metric to now showing fps and grains
but i think this is a bit better, but i did not like the front on/off switch

you can shoot them all, people put acrylic thick plates with window in front of them to protect.

I bought the Emerson E9700 Shooting Chronograph Speed Tester on eBay a while back and it works fine. Reads in meters per second. Supposed to be able to download to a PC, but couldn't find the drivers to make that work. Very small and portable. Battery powered. Small aperture to shoot through, but not that hard to do. Can be mounted on a tripod.

I have been using the combro unit for about a year now and am very happy with it. I sometimes get a false reading but it's usually in bad light. Conversion from metric to imperial works flawlessly and if you want it can be connected to a laptop to record your strings. It does affect accuracy, especially on my Walther which is very finicky to anything that is hung from the end of the barrel. I guess it only costs about 50 bucks, over there in the US. For that kind of brass, it's a bargain.

Thanks for that. I'm sending my Combro back. I'll just use my Chrony Beta Master.
