Co2 valve question. Assistance required please.

Hi everyone. I wonder if a co2 guru can assist me please. The brass valve on the Crosman 2260 that I am rebuilding was damaged by the previous owner, so much so that it wasn’t possible to seal the transfer port when connected to it.

I have been gifted another second hand valve. I noticed that the internal valve spring is soft on the original damaged valve but the other non modified secondhand valve has a much stronger internal spring. My question is - is it preferable to have a soft or strong internal spring fitted to the valve? Any assistance will be much appreciated. Thanks. Richardo.

Ricardo,

According to what I have read you want the softer 8 coil spring over the 6 coil stiffer spring.

I have read this multiple places and there is lots of confusion including that when Crosman changed to a different spring they did not update the parts schematic. This link seems to describe it best:

So, you are just dealing with an older and newer valve assembly, but the spring is interchangeable between the valves.

Hope that helps.

Thank you everyone who assisted me either on or off line to complete this project.

The 2260 is now a .22 calibre 550 FPS 10fpe very nice shooter.
