Cleaned the barrel on my Taipan Veteran and . . . questions

:( I went to unscrew the moderator and (apparently) it and the adapter have become married - the adapter threaded (UNthreaded) itself right off of the shroud. Is it supposed to do that?? ( I don't believe so . . . :( ) I threaded it back on and instead tried to twist and unthread the shroud itself. The little connector thing at the far end of it ( circled in the photo ) - next thing I know it's spinning around with the shroud. I notice a grub screw on it that is presumably supposed to prevent this from happening and tighten that down a bit. I did manage to get the shroud unscrewed off of this thing BUT it did pull fwd some too at the same time. Is that supposed to be at a fixed distance - ie; a 1/4" off of the mounts for the pic rail? I loosened the grub screw and slid it all the way off. Cleaned the barrel, threaded this "rear" piece back onto the shroud and then slid both back over the barrel. Apparently the threads at the end of the barrel thread into the moderator adapter. I just twisted it all until it came up snug and then gave it a little additional to get the grub screw into a position where I could snug it down too. ( It stopped right under the pic rail and no way I could get an allen wrench into there )

I cleaned it, got it back together and shot it some / checked zero on the scope. Seems to be shooting fine. ( 18gr JSB's )
