I have a suggestion that many sites use to transact goods without fear of scams and item misrepresentation. The inclusion of a middleman would alleviate much of the problems of scammers in the airgun community.

    Here's how it can work:

    •  Buyers who want to purchase something can use a designated middlemen(someone well known and trusted in the forum or community- posted on a stickied thread) to purchase a item.
    • Buyer sends funds to middleman who holds the funds until buyer confirms item is accurate and in his hands.
    • Middleman releases funds to seller/recipient.
    • Middleman gets paid a small fee for their services.
    • Middleman feature is optional but useful for high dollar items
    • Completely gets rid of paypal buyer protection flaws regarding violation of terms of service.
    • Easy implementation- just a sticky with list of middlemen and announcement.

How does it sound? I think some other communities riddled with scammers have this feature.

So then what happens if the buyer says he never got the package? Or he says it was a box of rocks? Does he return the $$ to buyer? Does he send it to seller? or does he just keep it?

I'd be interested in something like this once the process is figured out! Thanka for bringing this up.

Just to verify if a gun actually exists, I ask the seller to write a certain number on a piece of paper then take a photo of the gun with the paper and send it to me. just to prove it was not a photo lifted off the internet.  I think doing this got me out of a scam at least once.
