Clarity/Performance Review on SWFA, ATHLON, & TRACT SCOPES

Great review, I have just purchased the ares 4.5-30x56 uhd glass. My findings was the brightness and color and contrast, but mainly because I shoot daily in my back yard up to 125yrds my eyes don’t feel overwhelmed. I can shoot for long periods of time and not stopping for an eye break. Like you pointed out you may not gain accuracy but it’s much more enjoyable. Please note I’m old and my eyes need all the help they can get but that always seems to be more money. Thanks again for your video

I like the comparisons. I think some of the clarity difference (in the video) might be the camera focus vs the ocular focus. I can get a clear reticle on almost all scopes, downrange clarity is a different effort.

I agree with your conclusion as a non-hunter. I don't NEED max clarity, I do need a comfortable eye box and to enjoy looking through the scope. A little different angle.... I like having the same scope on at least 2 - 3 of my guns. When I find one I like I accumulate a few. . I'm in the process of changing some 500 scopes out to higher price one.. If I hadn't already committed (already have 2 new ones) I'd be looking much harder at the Tract.

Thanks for the tip. Is there a code for the 10% off?

I really want a second opinion someone who can compare them to $1000+ scopes side by side.

Call them and ask for it or...

It is CLEARER than the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 comparing both at 24x for an even comparison and it's almost as clear as the SWFA SS 3-15x42 at 15x but the difference you may not even notice it if you compare it to the 4.5-27X50 Alpha6 when cranked down to 15x to do a side by side. The 2.5-15x50 Alpha6 you probably will notice that the SWFA SS 3-15x42 has the edge at 15x but the difference isn't more than triple the cost difference. I am not going to be looking forward to buying any more of the $699 SWFA SS 3-15x42s anymore because of the $229 Alpha6s and also because of the $299 on sale at SWFA Bushnell TAC 5-15x40AO 15x Mildot. The difference in optical clarity is too close to justify spending 2-3x the money.

Once you buy a Chinese 4.5-27x50 Alpha6 there will be a lot of POPULAR higher priced costing a lot more than the $229 from Budk or $299 if you buy the Alpha6 elsewhere you probably be happy even if it cost $599. A lot of other higher dollar Chinese scopes that will for sure disappoint you in clarity in the $300-$1200 price range except for the Japanese and Filipino made ones. That is unless your eyes aren't too good or you can't see chromatic aberration like many many many here think their scopes are perfectly clear all the way to their max zoom power thinking perfect crystal clear because they never looked through a Swarovsky, Nightforce, March , Schmidt and Bender, Zeiss or Valdada before to know what crystal clear really is like. I ordered a crapload of the Alpha6s after being disappointed comparing the Alpha6 to a more than triple the price Chinese big buck (bigger bucks than the SWFA SS 3-15x42) BUSHNELL FORGE (TOP OF THE LINE CHINESE!!!). Rather disappointing indeed!

Thanks for watching guys!

8th man-Yea, I do feel my eyes are not as good as the used to be, I need all the help I can get with the glass. I've been looking hard at that Athlon etr uHD too. If I ever get my impact I think that will be the one.

JCD-Clarity is nice, but higher magnification is the real factor that helps accuracy. The camera does not reflect exactly what my eye does.

Yo- I did not get that scope in time but I'll be looking for one in the future. Does look like an interesting brand, and has a great price. I look for one and see if I can put it up against my SWFA.

I have the scope on my impact mk2 25cal and they work well together. The thing is my friend has a razor 4.5-27x56 and the ares uhd 4.5-30x56, the quality of glass is the same if not a little brighter than the razor. The comparison was done one hour before dusk to night fall and that’s what convinced me to purchase the athalon, the price is right for the quality. I have the vortex pst gen2 3-15x44 on my Edgun r5m, the vortex is a nice scope but there is no comparison to the new Ares. I hate to say this but when I shoot from gun to gun the viper gen 2 seems to be dirty glass, but it is just the quality. In fairness the vortex is $400.00 bucks less. That’s all I got.

Steve that Tract 4.5-30x looks to be the new king of the $2000 and under Athlon Cronus and Delta Stryker-Trijicon Accupower and Burris XTR3. MAYBE a good rub to all others up to $2900.00.

Nathan BUDK has ONE LEFT as of NOW I already called. Alpha6 2.5-15x50 $199.98. Still on sale less than retail. It's worth a lot more than you think optically. You will see...
