Clarification On FX Slug Liners

While I really like the FX Dreamline rifles I have other pcp rifles that will do the job as far as power, accuracy and shot count. What I don't have is a pcp rifle that will shoot slugs. Therefore I'm looking to get the new Impact MKII probably in .22 caliber for the relatively wider range of slug weights compared to the 25 caliber. Not sure as of yet to go with the 600mm barrel or 700mm barrel Impact as the cost difference is minimal. Now down to my question. I was on SPAW's website looking at the accessory slug barrel liners and see they list a slug barrel A and B. The FX pdf on barrel types I downloaded only lists slug liners type A in different lengths. Is FX now offering a different type twist or ID diameter slug liner. Thanks for any input. Bill

There is a video coming from Matt D. On youtube, slug liners only. Guess he is the man for that

Can someone with a .25 cal slug liner confirm for me that the .25 slug liner only has one grove around the breach end of it, or does it have two like the .22 slug liners? The one I was sent only has one grove and I haven't measured but the twist rate doesn't seem to be right. Thanks.

Yes, that is now true (was two). I heard they will soon be band-marking the liners to reduce the confusion. I have both in 600/.25 for my Impact. I had the same question.

Thanks, Johan at FX told me that the first run had 2 groves but this new batch has only one. But he also recommended that I measure the twist rate to be sure.

Thankfully I never mixed them up, but I did just hold them in my fingers with one groove TDC on the end of each one. Rotating them very slowly I could see that the groove of one of them “dove” before the other one (= faster twist rate), so I knew they were different. I’m just taking it on faith that I was seeing 1:27 and 1:20. So far so good.

I am loving my 25 slug liner for the extra weight, but it looks to me like bob and matt and air hunters are slamming it with 22.

Bob - if you could do it again would you rather the extra weight of the 25 or the speed of the 22? I cant speak to the 22 as i only have the 25.

one thing i will say is im sure bobs shot count on the 22 beats the heck out of mine in 25 I only get 50 shots on a full fill. That might be a reason to go 22 on its own.

Keith,

I only get about 60 shots at my power level.

I'll be trying the 25 caliber slugs as soon as I can get a barrel kit for the Impact. Until then, the 22 slugs are plenty for pest birds.

I have a 200yd tree at one farm that the pigeons like to sit on. Maybe in a month or so I'll try for them at that range. The gun is accurate to 200 yds at the range so I know I can hit a pigeon at that distance given decent conditions.
