Wildcat 25 Chrony numbers after polish

These are the first shots since polishing the barrel.
Starting from a 230bar fill using a .25 wildcat

The next shot was 895 and on down so I assumed it came off the regulator at shot #48. Mag #5 was interesting so I filled the gun back to 190bar and got 930.0fps. I kept getting errors so I will resume back later starting at 190bar to see what numbers I'm getting from there. So far what do you guys think?

I think you did a big mistake by polishing the barrel. If you hadn't been satisfied you should have returned the gun back. Why on earth you need to polish the barrel in such an expensive gun? Are you serious man? Is FX serious? Or maybe all they care about is the money?

I get 48 shots with mine but im pretty much flatlining around the 900fps no polishing of the barrel.Did it increase the accuracy?

Because the barrel in such an expensive gun should be perfect out of the box. No discussion with that. How do you know that after polishing it will shoot better? Guys, we are not dealing with plastic toys.

Barrels from much more expensive guns such as steyr are polished and massaged so why would a run of the mill smooth twist not benefit as well?

Because the factory should have done it man. Do you have the same tool as Steyr for barrel polishing?

Well, I polished the barrel because it's my rifle and I wanted too! It doesn't matter how expensive something is if you own it then the choice is yours to do whatever you may. As for as accuracy goes it did not change. Well at least not at 25yds. I could not test further distances. The only thing I was wondering was the jump in fps at mag #5. On part 2 of testing the results were much better at 200bar fill.

OK, I'll ask this question again, since I didn't get an answer before. Does anyone know what the major gun manufacturers do to their barrels before sending them out the door? Are they polished? Particularly Smooth Twist barrels?

i polished my 25 royale , 15 2 way strokes with bore mop and mothers alum and mag polish. it had about 5 tins thru it. it helped about 3/32 to 1/8" average closer to center at 30 yd.

FX does not have a cut rifled barrel, as you know. Even the last few inches that is rifled is not cut, rather its pressed or deformed to make the rifling therefore polish if you like but not needed.

Hi re your shot strings

In my opinion your gun is off the regulator at shot 33, hence the steep rise in fps, being 919 shot 34 937. This is true of most regulated guns my Vulcan .25 as an example.

On the subject of accuracy IMO a minimum of 50 yards and better still 100 yards sorts the men from the boys.

Antj- it does look like your coming off the regulator at shot 34. I had similar results (an increase in velocity) before dropping off. If you decide to, Increasing your hammer sping preload should result in an increase in velocity and a lower ES. Then fall off rather then increase, at around shot 34. I made it a rule just to stop at shot 32 just to keep the regulator working at all times. Thanks for sharing your results of the work you've done on your Wildcat. Other Wildcat users may benefit from it. Here's how your string looks like on a graph. Looking forward to your post of the 190bar fill.

Thanks! I have posted the updated thread if you haven't already read. After testing at 200bar the numbers were averaging 915 fps. I have since sent the Wildcat to Ernest for some tuning. I know Ernest will get the regulator under control and have her A1!
