I have this Cadwelll chronograph

Not impressed at all. Out of 10 shots I might get 2 good readings. With .177 forget it. I tried this five or six times and it just seems to be the same disappointment. This is going back!

I’m looking for a nice accurate chronograph that’s going to last me.
Does anybody have any good recommendations?

I have a similar Caldwell, with similar results ... struggle to get readings, maybe 75% if the light is perfect. It's very frustrating to use.

So I bought a cheapie from china (Aliexpress):

Works perfectly so far, I'm really happy with it. Unsure how long it will last - but so far so good.

Very easy to setup, hasn't missed a single shot.

I've already used it more in 3 weeks than I used the caldwell in 3 years.

I have the same chronograph and it's sitting on the floor in my garage. Totally agree with what you said about it. Piece of junk. My goto chronograph is the Caldwell Precision Chrony. I also have an FX chrony, but tend to grab the Caldwell Precision chrony more often

I have the Combro, Caldwell and the FX. for airgun use, hands down, the FX. Simple, easy to use, and small. If I'm at the range, the Caldwell is a hassle to setup, and if you accidentally leave the thing in the ON position, drains your battery in a heartbeat. The Combro requires an even barrel to attach to and requires you to look at the end of the gun, so just not as convenient.

Built a rod for the FX Crony out of a half inch PVC pipe and a straight connector on each end. wrapped the ends with duct tape to give it some grip, and added a spare scope ring to attach to the side Picatinny rail. Out of the way, doesn't impact point of impact and so easy.

If at the range, setting up the FX is no big deal. It just sits beside the barrel on the PVD extension. No setting up the chronograph while the range masters glare at me.

For me, just works better.

Weird i have the same one and it NEVER fails to measure a properly placed .177 or .25 shot.

you probably know this but you cant just send a pellet through anywhere and at any angle. there is a pretty big "sweet spot" they have to pass through and there has to some reasonably close alignment so pellets pass over both sensors.

Bluetooth is seamless and its awesome to just walk in the garage, turn on my phone, and have the data just stream right to me while i shoot. It is my third chrony and by far the easiest to use

MrP i’ve always shot straight into the Crony. I’m shot every way you can with mirrors behind my back even ricochets. The more I tried tithe worse it got. Found it very frustrating after a while. I would just like a quality crony. We are in a lockdown, so a little wait is necessary.

I saw an earlier post don’t know who, but they had an orange box, looked serious. I would like to check that one out as well. Don’t know name. Crow
