Anyone tested the Sporter version? The company says that you need the v3 version for airguns. $300 is too much, but I am considering the Sporter for $180 if it can register .22 and above pellets.

EDIT: did some searching and found this: "...What’s the downside? The manufacturer says the Sporter is limited to 1″-max diameter barrels. In actuality, it can go a bit bigger than that. We have used it successfully on a 1.15″ straight contour barrel — but “your mileage may vary”. Second, the manufacturer says the new Sporter is NOT designed for use with airguns or shotguns. We have tested the original MagnetoSpeed with air rifles and it successfully recorded .177 and .22 pellet velocities, once we adjusted the sensitivity.."

It works with .22 pellets, but have to place it carefully to make sure it's within the recommended distance and the correct angle. Too close or too far will not work. Avbout 1/4 inch to 1/3 inch should work.

Also, I experimented with some rare earth magnets (cheap, easy to find). If you stack one or two on top of the two magnetic sensors on the bayonet, it will not only increase the height above the bayonet (so you don't need a larger spacer in case of using a mod on the barrel) but also will increase the magnetic field's strength giving you more sensitivity to detect objects passing over them.

Sorry the pics are gone. Will check if I can still find them:
