Chipper #71 for 2021, #4 for November

Noticed 2 chippers near my raised garden bed when I stepped out this morning. The first one ran under the wood pile and the second one went to the top of the wood pile.

So, I went back inside and grabbed the Fortitude and items I use for my rest and set up on the garbage can.

The one that went to the top of the wood pile was still sitting there looking at me with only its head exposed.

Shot entered the tip of the nose and exited the middle of the back. DRT with minor twitching for 5 seconds.

I waited about an hour for the other one to come back out, but it never did. Maybe later... That's why the small amount of blood had dried and rigor mortis had set in before I took the pics shown below.

No cigar... also maybe later...

~15 yards with Benjamin Fortitude Gen2 using LUM77 10.5 @ ~750fps for ~12+fpe. Scope is Aim Sports Alpha 6 4.5-27x50 set to max/27 power.

First 2 pics are entry. Next 2 pics are exit. Ping pong ball for scale.

You seem to have a never ending supply of chippers. Nice shooting !!! And nice pictures.

Thanks! I thought they had already gone into torpor, but we keep getting warm days here. 73°F forecast high for today.

All these short shots (~15 yards) have taken their toll on my longer shooting capability. Missed 2 at ~35 and ~40 yards recently.

Stalked for 3 hours this morning with no luck. Oh well... (grin)

@Backstop Some days are just like that. You iced that little guy yesterday though. These temps are strange this year. It’s supposed to hit around 81F here today.

Yes, everyone has one of those days from time to time. I'm just happy I am still getting targets! (smile)
