Thanks for posting about this. I like EDgun, and currently own three, two older ones and a newer model, but it’s recently dawned on me that although they do have problems (cocking, mag index, valve pins, hammer springs, trigger, accuracy) that they rarely get reported due to the semi-cult status of EDgun. I’d like to see more EDgun owners come clean and discuss the issues they have with their guns, especially the R5M. 

Lou - I'm just glad that both you and Titus made made out unscathed! Those creatures are fierce, but that hardware failure could have been bad. It should be covered under warranty, I'm sure @edgunwest will see to it that you're taken care of!

I tried one & thought it was machined very well. The bolt was sturdy, everything was. My only “complaint” would be refinement but I based it on comparison to Theobens, AA’s, BSA, where fine wood & nice bluing were in play. That’s preference though as I’m just a traditionalist instead of black gun, bull pups, tactical style. 

HPA in general is scary as air guns are taking higher & higher fills. Being I have a 3.5-4.7cfm 100% cycle duty compressor I don’t see a need now to run any at maximum when I don’t mind being tethered and most guns run best at 2700 tops. It varies but for me, I just don’t even need to fill bottles to max when I can simply go to 3500, run compressor more often to get oil in upper & a 1 minute cool down under no load. A month ago I would have been concerned with shot count, how efficient set up is, etc. when dive shop wanted $15.95 to top a 30min 44ct from 2000 to 4500 that cools to 4300psi.

So at this point I doubt Ed is hand making every gun. Is a CNC more consistent? Yes. Would a machinist notice a bad batch of material? Possible if hand making but not CNC parts. So material can vary and in general I don’t think EDgun bad. I just wouldn’t be filling to 300bar, on any gun period. It’s a selling point but not everyone can fill that high. And Huben, newest high powered AEA taking 5K fills? IMO you might as well be shooting a centerfire at that point as I’m pretty darn happy with a 8-12 or 16-25ftlb tuned spring gun as much as any PCP but, I have a .257 or 6mm Scandalous on my list. They run well on much lower pressure due to long barrels. 

I’m also glad no one was hurt & anytime a item can’t be discussed in pros & cons civilly I am dubious.

Except for a broken stock around the trigger guard wich not replaced, as it was "ok from us" 

Mags need to be drilled like Hatsan ones because the pellets stuck and damaged the skirts

Removed the orings and opened them till the pellet passes free

I think i got about 10 fps from that mod and easier cocking

Needs grease to the rob and the all mechanism of pellet probe

There is not second stage weight adjustment

Spiriling at 20% of pellets,i think i solved it with an oring betwneen the silencer and the barrel grub screw tensioner

Hard cocking (i will live with that)

BUT excellent alu and fitment, very quiet (R5M Long 6.35), reg with out creep, even after 4 days

Wait a min, you texted me and said you had been running the regulator at 150 bar and shooting 36 grain slugs prior to your hand surgery in this gun.

I’ve been following this thread and am a bit confused. So it appears to me from the above that if you have the reg set to 150 bar, and dry fire the gun, there’s a good chance the valve stem will break? 

150 bar should be fine to shoot 36gr slugs
