Those rings don't look like they are meant for MOA droop compensation and will damage scope tubes if front and back mount are set at different heights.

He is asking if by filing/grinding/sanding the stepped up notches off and make them smooth and not force a tightened bite that's too horizontally straight as engineered by the factory to maintain horizontal level, whether they may be used for droop compensation raising the rear mount at an angle and simultaneously lowering front mount at same angle as well answer is all depends how much play (SLOP) they got machined into the moveable up and down milled out parts of the mount the tensioning bolts slides up and down on.

He can take one for the team and buy it to modify and try it on a cheap throw away scope preferably one that's scope tube is already toast. It will probably work as a droop compensation mount by filing the steps smooth and filing grinding opemmimg up the up down slider grooves wider to allow pivot (forward cant) at an angle must do it for both rings as the back is gonna be jacked up at an angle so is the front lowered at same angle.

Lapping them would be safer as well after checking with alignment tool so scope tube doesn't get damaged from stress.

Not sure of I'm just seeing things but looks like they really need to be lapped regardless of intended use even as-is. THOUGHTS?

Redick - I think these adjustable rings are for height adjustment only and go straight up or straight down. I am guessing that the teeth will not allow them to be tilted at an angle.

If the teeth were filed off then perhaps they could be set to allow you to raise or lower your point of impact and not put the scope in a bind. Say tilt the front one down then elevate the back one and tilt it down on the same angle.

I see..but if thats the case why not just buy the right height mounts? Seems to be more of a pain in the rear but thats just my opinion. Good luck
