Charging BSA R-10 from an air cylinder.

Yes, there will be a gap when the fill probe is inserted.

Most likely a bad o-ring. It is probably o-ring #1. If it were #2 the air pressure leaking past and pushing on the end of the probe would try to pop it out of the gun. If the probe is set up with a foster connection (like mine) check the o-ring in the female half of the foster fitting.
 
Hi guys. Based on the help you provided, I managed to get a decent fill by working the rings around the probe and applying a layer of grease. There still appeared to be quite a bit of air escaping so I checked the price on Amazon. As the probes are only £10 (around $8, I think), I just ordered a new one. So thanks once again for the help and advice.










Your symptoms sounds pretty similar to something I experienced with a BSA Gold Star. Does the gun also have a slow leak?
