Beware the spectrum has a horrible reticle with useless markings of unknown dimensions. To me that negates the main reason for a FFP scope: the markings map directly to clicks, unchanging with with magnification.

Also, it does not parallax adjust to 10 yards like the specs claim, which rendered it useless in my basement, which is about 10 yards.

I purchased one from Crossman for what seemed like a good price, and returned it. If parallax adjusted to 10 yards I may have kept it.

I have two of these and have shot well over 400 ground squirrels and 4000+ pellets through them. The best way to determine your drop at range is to shoot at range and take notes where the stadia (cross hash) fall on the distances. Really guys. It is not hard to collect actual empirical data. I trust my data way more than the estimate from a program on the cell phone.

Focus the ocular lense before you try to adjust objective

Chart your drop and use it.

Don't need to click, it is a FFP and is consistent at all zoom levels

Use a range finder.

Practice good marksmanship

Drop lead into target

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Here are my "appreciations" of this scope....

Sorry that they aren't any more positive.... But I give the reasons for my eval.

With a diagram with a calibration of the BDC reticle in mil and moa. The spacing of the hashlines is waaaaay to far to be useful for airguns — maybe for a bow?

Add this... It will hold its own against most scopes costing up to (Retail) $1200.00. And smoke most $650 and under in optical clarity. I compared it side by side to more than 30 other scopes costing from $160-$1200. Only JAPAN scopes such as the SWFA SS $699 and Weavers and the $299 sale at SWFA ($499 regular price) BUSHNELL TAC 5-15x40AO Mildot and LEUPOLD EFRs and Old school Front focus AO BUSHNELL Elite 4200s and 4500s and 6500s (neck and neck). You will PROBABLY feel REALLY SICK spending $500+ on your typical favorite (REALLY POPULAR BRANDS) made in China scopes after looking through one of these. Illuminated reticle can also be seen during the day too if you want which is a floating cross when illuminated with holdover reference points. Search for a working online discount 15% off code to get it under $200.00.

Jim,

You give sound advice: 👍🏼

"The best way to determine your drop at range is to shoot at range and take notes where the stadia (cross hash) fall on the distances." 😊 Yes!

🔶 However, THIS CenterPoint 4-12x44 has its elevation stadia or hash lines too far apart to be used for most normal airguns.

🔶I measured and calibrated it for moa and mil — because I have one and I HAD to use it.

See the pic with the reticle calibrations (a diagram that Crosman should have given its customers on its webpage, thank you very much....)

🔶If I wanted to use the holdover lines on this reticle my first holdover line is at 8.2 moa (or 2.4 mil) below the crosshair. WOW — that's A LOT of holdover! ❔

▪And what if the trajectory of my airgun called for a holdover much smaller than that, say, 3.5moa? ❔Where exactly do I put my bulls now on the reticle...? 😟

▪And what if I needed much less than that, say, 1.5moa? ❔Where exactly do I put my quarry's head now on the reticle....? 😟

Where exactly IS 10 moa holdover on this reticle...? ❔

▪Likewise the windage lines are too far apart. You'd need a lot of wind if you actually needed to hold off 6 moa for wind.... (since 6 moa is the first windage hash line on this reticle).

Just sayin', this aint an airgunner's reticle.... Héctor on AGW said it looked like it might work for a bow....

I contacted Crossman regarding this issue.

They seemed very noncommittal about the actual capabilities of the scope and hinted that 15 yards was the minimum, without actually acknowledging that the specs on their web page were not correct. They suggested a refund, which I took to indicate that 15 yards was the minimum. The last time I looked the specs were still incorrect.

IIRC, the lowest marking on the scope was 15 yards.

Ok, you do you and I will do me. 10 yards is very short distance to use a scope, are you sure you need 4-12 power to see that? If the scope does not fit your needs, that does not mean it won't fit anybody else's needs. Luck to you.

I sometimes shoot in the basement, so I like my scopes to focus at 10 yards. Every other scope I have on my air rifles focus at 10 yards. This includes other Centerpoint models, Tasco made in Japan, cheap Tasco, Leapers, and 3 FFP Bushnell Nitros of similar or greater power.
