Very nice, I did penetration testing with rubber mulch a while back. Impact .25 at 3 feet. Deepest penetration was around 6 inches. At 10 yards, should be good, but do watch and make sure you don't drill a hole through the mulch. Normally it'll break up and self pack down, but eventually you could drill a hole and penetrate. Give the side of the target a good hit once in a while to make sure the mulch continues to settle and stay tightly packed.

Sorry, can't spell today. Need sleep!

@matt247365, Matt, yeah every once in a while some of us that put a lot of time into helping other members get that red ball! I got one a while back, some wing nut gave it to me because he said I didn't know s@#% about high pressure air systems and my advice would get someone killed. Of course it was cowardly and anonymous. He must not have known about my 35 years of experience in that field and the Nuclear Engineering degree... ;)

One other suggestion. Might put some shelves on the bottom section (wasted space now) for a bit of extra storage.

For a steel plate, if you visit thrift stores, pick up a couple cookie sheets if you feel inclined. While they won't stop a pellet at point blank range, they would be an effective stop after 6 or 8 inches of rubber mulch (though I doubt the pellet would ever get that far).

You've got me thinking.

????? Was there something related to a pellet trap in any of that, or was the sole purpose of posting in my thread to congratulate yourself? I am thoroughly confused by your intention with that post...

Anywho, @Saltlake58, I was admiring my handy work and got to thinking the same thing with the shelves. As for cookie sheets, great idea. I was thinking of adding a second layer of that 3/4 laminate, but it'll probably be too top heavy.
