Catastrophic failure of cheap water seperator

Hey guys,

Saw this on the Yong Heng Facebook group.

Serious serious damage.

Man you gotta be safe and try not to buy cheap save up for the real deal to avoid high pressure dangers like this it appears he was mislead by the amazon seller giving it a higher rating then it should have been, was a 3000psi water seperator filling 4500 psi tanks. You can see from the photos it was a very thin aluminum body. Said it was around 7mm thick

7mm is a little over 1/4 of an inch thick.

I'm no engineer so I'll leave the hoop strength and cylinder stress/etc to them, but I'd be quite surprised if many of the airtubes in our guns are more than 1/4 of an inch thick.

The thickness maybe ok, but the aluminum alloy that was used could be inferior. My water filter is more like 3/8 inch thick and more than enough to contain 4500 psi of air. I do keep an eye on it anyway.

I stick with Joe Brancato. He refuses to sell anything that doesn't have a safety factor built into it. 300 psi is dangerous let alone 3000 and 4500 psi. Just how precious are your hands and eyes to you, these days you might be able to get your eye replaced but hands. Buy from a known reliable source, feel comfortable when you, your family and friends shoot. I grew up with a buddy whose dad lost his arm. He could almost do anything, almost.

Hey guys,

AGN won't let me upload photos at the moment ill upload when it allows me. Ot was one of the big water seperators blew the entire fill station apart and lodged the filter in the ceiling.

This is the fill station it was attached to.

I was confused in this pic since the seperator was gold. I cant find the image now but this seperator was gold with a blue bottom thats what we see in this photo of it lodged in his ceiling.

Probably a mixture of inferior aluminum and over filling

Those sidewalls look pretty thin, hard to tell….almost looks de-laminated. My Tuxing branded filter seems very heavy duty, comparatively. I did get a no name small filter that I would not use….thin walls and horrible threading.
