Like the title says my Carette Air Compressor Drive Belt broke today. It's an A-864 LI. I looked all over the internet and could only find it in China via Amazon. Ordered two off of Amazon. 3 weeks delivery time. Does anyone have any US sources where I can get it earlier ... and not get screwed monetarily? Just checking. Otherwise I am waiting patiently. Thanks for your help.

I can’t see why you couldn’t take the belt to any auto or equipment store and match it up. There is likely some room for adjustment in your unit to tension your belt which would allow some variance in the belts length.
At least it should get you up and running before the new belts arrive. It’s worth a try.

Hello everyone. Thank you all for your inputs. I'm back in operation. Just charged my Great White tank to 4400 psi.
I was really panic-ed. My compressor was down and the scuba shop 7 minutes from my door was closing down. Closest shop would be 45 minutes away.
I started off going to Advance Auto a few days ago with the broken belt. The guy I talked to wasn't any help. I had honey-do's to do so I just ordered 2 belts from Amazon/China. About $8 a piece.
Today I went to Autozone with Jarmstrong information A34, 36" OD, 34" ID. The guy at Autozone found me a belt. I brought it home. It slipped right on and I charged my tank. I'm back in operation.
Lemensd, I don't have anything good to say about Joe B.
Mike_Lenerdon, I have right at 68 hours on my Carette. It works great since I replaced the high pressure piston some months ago. I posted and shared the videos that the Chinese factory guys sent me.

Certainly sorry you had a bad experience in your dealings with Joe Brancato. All I can say is that he has been extremely accommodating and helpful in my dealings with him. Glad you received help from the forum.

There is more to belts than size. I recall a Sears roto-tiller we had that would eat a standard belt in minutes, whereas the factory belts lasted a good while. The power handling rating was different.
Hopefully this isn't a similar situation. 68 hours seems short. Perhaps it was stressed during the high pressure piston failure.
Daystate says to check tension every 25 hours and replace belts annually or at 500 hours on their compressors. Having a spare on hand would be good.

As someone mentioned above, width can be just as important as length. The belt needs to fit correctly inside the groove of the pulley. Too narrow rides mostly on the bottom of the pulley groove reducing contact and too wide causes the belt to ride high in the groove also reducing contact.

As mentioned, there is more to a belt than just length. Width and pitch are key. You ought to be able to get that belt from a "Power Transmission" supply house. In most big cities.
