Carbon Fiber Shroud - end caps?

I made this aluminum adapter, first pic, for a few inches from the barrels muzzle of the carbon fiber tube. It has holes to allow some of the gas to go back into the full shroud and leaves the forward part of the tube empty for the moderator use. It also has an Allen screw in it to attach it securely to the barrel so it doesn't move around. The screw needs to be very tight to prevent slipping. The black Delrin adapter, in the second pic, is for the front of the shroud/moderator and another similar for the back on the 22xx guns.

I put Allen screws through the Carbon fiber tube and into the adapters, in the past. But found by just properly applying hot glue to the adapters it has held up just fine for thousands of rounds thus far in the 15 to 20fpe range. My blue gun has a, very tight, press fit rear plug adapter and no glue but it stays put somehow. If it ever comes loose I will glue it.

I put an o-ring inside of the rear adapter on the FX unit to help it center. The second adapter, in the bottom pic,is a modified front FX, screw on, unit that allows me to use carbon tube, for the shroud and tension the barrel a bit.

There are plenty of guns out there that use screw on or slip on shrouds and moderators. The problem I had was finding one that fits inside a specific size of carbon tube. Your local machine shop should be ale to spin you some of the adapters up out of a piece of Delrin in no time so it should be cheap.

Else I would check with TKO as I am sure he could fix you up.

I would think that unless you have an aftermarket high breech you will run into problems with the shroud hitting on the tube. How are you going to get around that?

Hey biohazardman. Did you notice any change in accuracy when you started free floating the barrel with carbon fiber shroud and stopped using the barrel band?

I used the 25mm OD and 23mm ID carbon tube as I knew I wanted to use it for a shroud/moderator combination.

Here is the gun in it's earlier days with, you guessed it, no barrel band. I don't use barrel bands, on my guns, unless they are really needed. If I had a plastic breech or my barrel was 18 inches or longer I would have one on. But it never had a band on it. Still it shot .5 inch groups at 50 yards then and now .6 to .7 with all of the latest mods and not allot of tuning. Expect it will be back to the .5 inch groups soon enough. The big plus with the FX barrel is that it shoots many more pellets very well and at faster velocities than the old Crosman barrel which limited me to one pellet and a max of 630fps or accuracy suffered.
