Can any AA S510 owners ID what this is...........??

I just unboxed my new S510 XS last night. And while looking it over and admiring it, I spotted this hole you can see in the pic below. There is a hole in the air cylinder just down a bit from the fill port. You can see it very well in the picture. I've read the manual and looked online and can find nothing. I'm beginning to get really worried that it's NOT supposed to be there.......??????

Am I good? Or is this a problem and not supposed be there?

Thanks in advance.......TR

A hole like that is usually an atmospheric vent for the regulator but that is an unlikely position. Does it hold air? If so, shoot it.

Bingo. Atmospheric vent.
Older AA’ you had to drill a hole if you installed a reg.

Fantastic.........now not only do I know it's supposed to be there. Now I know what it is.......thank you.

What a timely post! I just ordered a refurbished S510 XS Xtra FAC from PA. Looking forward to getting it, and now I know what the hole in the air cylinder is!

That is too funny!! Yep.....there is a hole there!!

It is a beautiful rifle. Air Arms pays attention to detail. You can see it and feel it when you handle it. It's a different level of quality you can feel. You'll see.......

I can't wait to shoot it.

It is there as a SAFETY for HP air venting should the end caps o-ring suddenly fail. If pressure was to bear on the threaded portion expanding threads a mechanical failure could happen threw the thread roots. As designed the end cap and tube threads are in longitudinal shear while under pressure and Not subject to radial expansion loads.

More than you wanted to know .. but there ya go.
