Call me.......

I was out of the house for a few hours this morning. I just found this stuff near my side door with a town official business card on the door saying to call her. Oh crap......I called.

We regret to inform you that you will no longer be allowed to fire your pellet gun on town property. We must take this step to ensure the safety of our staff and employees. She was sorry, but the town board ruled against further use of this type of activity.

Crap.....I have been shooting in that weed patch for over five years. Is there a phone number to call for depressed airgun shooters?😢

Rooster, you had a feeling this might happen. Not so happy new year.

So sorry to hear this. I hate that you don’t have a shooting range anymore. I hope you can still get some kind of distance in your own yard. This has been a tough story to follow, especially when they spread the poison for the p. dogs, and you could just see it all coming to an end. Hopefully you can find a good range close by. Hang in there buddy.

That sucks! It was different for me. I once shot airguns in the back yard but they outlawed that. Then I started shooting out at a 1000 acre lot, five miles down the road, between the freeway and the river nothing but grasslands and patches of trees. They turned it into a park and put up signs that said said no shooting airguns but shotguns are OK!!! So, I shot at mile post six up on Larch Mt until they put up no shooting signs and included airguns in the law. So I went up to mile post eight until they put up no shooting signs there too. Then I got a couple of years in at mile post 12 before the signs went up there as well. That pretty much ended that. Now if I want to shoot my airguns I have to drive 40 minutes into the mountains or 15 to the range. So, I go to the range. It's just stupid how the left winged folks tied airguns to firearms in the laws. Wish I knew someone close with a decent amount of property outside of Multnomah county.

I'm sorry to hear that my friend. You did have one heck of a great range to use for a long time though. That kinda makes it harder to lose I'm sure. How is this all gonna effect your shooting opportunities? I know it won't be as good as you've had it........but do you have other options that aren't horribly inconvenient?

For the record....it absolutely irks me to no end when no nothing government politburo "officials" dictate what you can and cannot do with ignorant dictates! Had to get that in after reading what biohazardman posted above.

It stinks I know...

Wow, sorry to hear that. I feel its a matter of time before it happens to us all.

Why is that? Old age is the only reason I see stopping for myself. One door closes another opens. There are always going to be pests that need to be eliminated. Just need to find out where.

Why is that? Because society is changing, and gun rights are always on the defense these days. Airguns are the next frontier for people who take issue with thinks they go "pop." It's sad.

Why is that?

I thought I lived in a pretty gun friendly state. I was reading laws pertaining to airguns in Arizona and was surprised to see how the local municipalities have made their own rules that really limit where one can legally shoot a airgun. I have lived in Arizona 59 years and our laws have changed so much. I don’t think it doom and gloom thinking just realistic that with more wackos doing stupid things and airgun companies making more powerful airguns it is just a matter of time until airguns definitions are changed. I was talking with a game warden about automatic air rifles and hunting in AZ. Believe me that will be changed. Think about you tube videos that can be seen everywhere by anyone. We don't police ourselves, someone will.

Guns don’t have rights. People have rights. There is no such thing as “gun rights”. Because it’s more palatable for 2nd Amendment hating politicians and mass media to say your taking away gun rights, as opposed to “peoples/citizens rights”. Vigilance and the exercise of rights is the key. Also teaching the next generation like many here on AGN do.

You don't mention contesting it or finding out if it is actually an official policy or just an individual with a bias acting on their own?

How about trying to go educate them that your not an "assault weapon toting terrorist" and see if they will work with you on a compromise?

Have you contacted your state and federal legislators? The NRA? State hunters associations? Or even find other shooters in your town who will go with you to your City Hall meetings and protest?

Yes, it takes some effort or you can be defeatist and say it will never work.... But that attitude us why 'they' are winning.

I'm not real happy with the NRA and it's bloated pay and perks for it's top executive right now (and I've let them know!!!) but I also send $50 a month to GunOwnersOfAmerica / GOA and I have reached out to both about Airgun issues here in Texas and they responded with help. Do you belong?

We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.
