Southern LosAngeles Cali History everyone knows its the save a nickel save a dime song THRIFTY retail store chain that started in LA by the Borun brothers in 29' then boomed in the 50's even during the depression and WW2 Then they got first bought out in the 70's then again sold to Rite Aid in 96' eventually changing them to Rite Aids in the early 2000's.

They are history... literally!

Many shops are called and named nickel and dime there as a tribute.

I'm guessin nickel and dime is slang for the 510 area code
