Caldwell DeadShot FieldPod

Here’s my setup for hard floors plus, cost me nothing to build and took about 10 min to do but I’m sure a person could do a nicer job if they took their time but mine doesn’t move at all and it works. It’s been out on my deck all summer.

Im just wondering why you need it? Do the feet slide on the concrete or just not grip enough? If the concrete is pretty level why not make a triangle out of 2x4's matching your three legs at the spot that works for you. Then drill out small holes for the feet to sit in. Maybe the extra contact with the ground will stop the movement. It will also be easier to put away when finished shooting and not get your legs dirty. Or maybe little sandbags to lay in front of each leg. How do you like that rest? I looked it up. The price isnt that bad.

I'm not sure I will need it, critta. The spikes are plastic, so maybe they'll work on hard surfaces. I'm just afraid the hard surface will damage the spikes. The way I envision my set-up in the field involves dirt, so I guess for the time being there's really no issue. Thanks for your response :). Imold gave me some ideas involving PVC.

EDIT: My spikes are indeed steel.

Mine have spikes on the legs that will dig into my hard wood floor in my living room when I shoot during the winter months, I shoot from my living room out onto my lake where I put my targets and now I just leave it on out on my deck in the summer but if I had carpet in my living room I wouldn’t have to cover the spikes I’d just let in grab into the sub floor. My spikes are metal. I only use mine at home being I have tables out at my shooting range.

Thats why I do it....

Thank's for that, Imold! God, look at the gorgeous eyes on that kitty!

That’s Dusty our Rag Doll/Siamese Cat, he is awesome.

Then there is Boomer our Jack Russell/Rat Terrier, he’s just a butt head hahaha, wife got him for me after I had to put my Black Lab Sambuca down due to cancer, he was 14 years old and a awesome Bird dog and Boomer is still a Butt Head but a lovable Butt Head at that.

Calbarry, you're a genius!! Of course! That's perfect. Get three swatches (or one big piece) of thick carpet with the heavy rubber backing to keep them from moving. Thanks :). (You earn a positive Accuracy Point!)

Thanks, not sure about the genius part, I just found an easy, cheap solution to a problem I had. One big piece of carpet is less apt to move than one of three smaller pieces.

A Jack Russell?! OMG, you certainly have your hands full! And they're whip-smart, so they're always getting into mischief. But, they're so cute :). (And they don't eat much...) I bet you even call him "Butthead" when your wife's not around :)

We both call him Butt head when he is deserving of it. 200 pound dog in a 17 pound package hahaha, he ain’t scared of nothing.

Get one of those larger hard rubber bouncing balls (a little bigger than golf ball) from a kid's toy vending machine at your local Walmart/Kmart and drill a hole into it and mount it on the spikes...

I haven't tried it but it sounds like a good idea. I've got the FieldPod Magnum. I also wear flip flops and one day I'm gonna stab myself good 'n proper with it. Those spikes are no joke.

A golfball might work, but then it'd be all slippery-like and slide all around on ya. Not sure about other sizes of FieldPods, but my Magnum if left to slide could completely collapse so it's gotta be something skid-resistant that you use.
