Events C.O.A / End Of The Year CloseOut? The Big 1?

On Oct 11th there will be a big FT match held by Central Ohio Airgunners. Probably the last FT match in the midwest till next year. I went to the most recent event this year that was held on Sept 13/2020. It was fairly small ( 20 people ) but perfect for me since I had never attended or participated in 1 of these events. I did'nt really know what 2 expect and if I wanted to give it a go what will it cost and what/ should can I bring? All I brought were a topped off pcp rifle and 2 springers and some pellets, lol. And 2, 5 dollar bills. It cleaned me out.lol. The event had both a small FT event and a 50 yd bench rest event. The FT event had Knockdown/Resettable targets out to idk 40 yds? There was a power limit,foot/pounds u could use(to preserve the targets) understandable of course. The targets had variable kill zone sizes. It looked challenging without it being a cakewalk. It was basically informal,(on your honor) score keeping. And there was 199% percent honor with some good fun razzing and the exchange of experiences among a myraid of shooting topics. I opted for the 50yd benchrest event. I did'nt know how my springers would react shooting from crossed-sticks. So like I said,I show up bare bones, butt &&^^^% so to speak, lol. I start off and right away I can't even see where my sighters r hitting,oh sh**. Once I get that figured out my rifle starts miss-behaving and won't cycle or index /cock the next round. It did this 3 times? Each time I had to pull the magazine and then I'd dump the round in the dirt. I finally remembered that if I did'nt give the trigger-pull a complete follow-thru this happens. So I'm trying to shoot off a bench which is totally different than my home set-up,height is off, seat is off, none of my personnel benchrest rests/bags,lol. I finally got settled alittle bit about half way thru the 25 shot string. It was SOOOO embarrassing. I was given considerable leniency and was granted a Macaroni, not sure how many or how that works tho it was expained that it has some pre-revolutionary connection. Ahhhh,I'm easily confused,I apalogise to the fella that explained it to me I can't wait to go back and try again. I NEEd to redeem myself,at least alittle. The Oct 11th FT event looks big and I bet alot of people will be participating because other past events have been canceled.Make plans to go,I am.

HeyU, You are going to find that the air gun community is very helpful and friendly. We all start out at one level or another, the main thing being is you went, you observed and you tried!! That's the first step!! Read as much as you can, shoot and learn your rifle as much as you can and put what you learn to good use!! The main thing here is keep it fun!!

Good luck in your new hobby!! J.L.
