C clip falls out while bench shooting.

Okay so I have a total of four hatsan rifles now and the one that I used the most the .177 did something really funny today.

I was on about my 25th shot of the day and after I took the shot I noticed a small c-clip kind of just fell out from the trigger portion. I checked the diagrams and it's hard to tell it where it comes from. could be some c-clip holding a pin on the trigger assembly.

what do you guys think should I tear it apart and try to find it or should I just send it straight to Hatsan? this is the hatson edge no scope model. Needless to say I didn't pay much for these rifles.

I wonder for something like this during the warranty period Am I responsible for shipping it out to them. I suppose that would be a better question to ask hatsan directly.

I kind of just wanted to get a poll of opinions over here as to what you think I should do or what you think that c-clip might be.

I do have a expanded diagram of parts that's from hatsan some of you may have seen their charts with part numbers for all the little parts on there but it's difficult to see what's a c clip and what may be a washer or a rubber grommet even.

Anyway guys thanks in advance I appreciate the help.

Thanks Yo!

What about part153 on the diagram looks like a c clip on the trigger one for each side of that pin

Here is twords the safety...

I don't like diagrams and such hard to see besides THAT SCHEMATIC LOOKS WRONG. Just take off the stock upside down barrel pointed away from you on the left side of that safety engagement you know you safety goes to the back and front it's riding on a pin the c clip goes on the LEFT side. Cinch it with needle nose pliers some to make it closed more then guide with your finger slide c clip to that pin use a flat screwdriver careful don't let that c clip go flying. Yo!

Thanks. I'll give it a look tomorrow and see what I can find. I appreciate it brother.

If this helps, where that c-clip sits on your Edge trigger. There's one on either side. Napa Auto Parts stores carry them and you can buy singles, just take one with you and ask one of the guys at the counter. They keep good sized assortment boxes behind the counter.

Now that is helpful. C clips should snap into a groove machined into the relevant pin and be well retained-that's how they are designed. Not that one can't pop off but it is unusual. Doing this type thing is not rocket science-just remove the stock and look to see how it all fits together. If there is a place for a missing c clip it will be visible if you check each pin closely at each end. I'd suggest removing the stock to look but I wold also look farther forward at all pins to make sure there isn't another spot it could have come from. I'm not familiar with that specific model so maybe the area in the picture above is the only c clip on the gun? As has been stated, lay a rag over the c clip when pressing it into position-they can launch into oblivion sometimes.

That's the only place on the Edge trigger group that has a c-clip holding it in place, that particular pin is what holds the lower sear in place, you should find one on both sides of it and yep, like bandg mentioned, that pin has grooves machined on each side for the clips. The rest of the pins just slide in and out so be very careful you don't have one pop out on you when checking them.

Good information. I was wondering about the arm extending forward and whether there might be a c clip at the forward end of that.

I've owned 4 Edges, a 1000X, 3 Webley VMX .20's (still have all 3) and a Webley Spector. Except for badging and minor cosmetics, all the same basic rifle and I've never had one of the c-clips peel off. They do if not properly seated, been there done that, but the more likely cause is not properly seated at the factory during production.

Okay so from what I see my c clip on the safety link is a ok. Also a different size c clamp fell out it was smaller.

Look at this pin here. It is very loose in that it slides back and forth. Also I see it has grooves on the ends. Seemingly to engage a c clamp on both sides.

The schematics show 2 c clamps as well.

Hindsight is 20/20 I should have taken a picture of the clip that fell out next to the clip that's holding the safety so you can see the scale.

but I already assembled the rifle so here is the clip that fell out next to a BB.

Glad you got her all fixed up. I thought that safety slide c clip was the culprit and happy you figured that one out on your own. Props to you Brutha! Does she shoot fine-normal again? Lets see some groups! Yo!

well I put it back together but I haven't replaced the c-clip since I only have one.

I have to go down to the hardware store and match up the one that I have. I'll disassemble it all again and put the little c clips in.

I did manage to make the triggers a little smoother just by adding a drop of mineral oil right where that spring clips on providing resistance back to the trigger I'm not sure what it's called I'll try to take a photo but just adding a drop of oil made that bit of spring slide back and forth on the piece of metal that it's sitting on much better giving a better feel to the trigger overall.

I don't think anything would have gone crazy wrong if I were to continue firing the rifle.

I think the stock itself is tight enough around the trigger assembly to hold that pin in without it completely falling out if that makes sense but for safety sake I'm definitely going to buy the two little clips and attach them.

If that pin did fallout I would probably take a spring with it. Or just make the trigger blade fallout I'm not sure. Speaking of trigger blades does anybody have a line on Welsh Willy's triggers for these rifles?

Bear with me here I am new to this...

Turns out the c clip that fell out maybe just an extra one accidentally dropped in. I watch many videos and took a look at some of the photos and none of them have c clips where I indicated. The only see clips war at the bear trap which Yo! Mentioned early on.

That's also the same size as the clip on the bear trap for some reason I thought the one that fell out was smaller. Funny thing is schematics do show to c clamps on the ends of that pin that I had pictured earlier that goes in the center of the three pins that come across kind of like Orion's belt.

well this gave me an opportunity to take a look at it oil up the trigger understand it a little better.

no I'm not sure whether I should add some c-clamps or not I guess if the manufacturer didn't or decided they didn't need to I don't need to.

Once I put Humpty Dumpty back together again I'll fire it and see if that fix the resistance on the barrel as well.

Note the both and left and right sides of the safety mechanism have this c clips intact

Looks like I may have a spare c clamp for my safety.

None of my 9 had pins with grooves machined in them for the trigger pin. Random thought is it was done when built and the wrong pin got used? They're all the same size so a possibility. Here's a pic of what you'll see if you pull that pin and lift the trigger out and you'll see there are no grooves in it.

If you do, be VERY careful. That spring you oiled rides on a very small pin that's only the width of the trigger itself and is very easy to lose. Where you see my fingers pinching the trigger is because I'm holding that pin in place. The front half of it rides against the back of the trigger and is what pushes it back out after you fire and release the trigger. No harm in using c-clips on that trigger pin if you want and they should clear the housing for the trigger pack easily. I'll also mention Napa Auto Parts again for the c-clips. I used to work in one and they keep assortment boxes behind the counter. They'll happily match yours up and sell you singles if you want more.

As far as Welsh Willy triggers? You can try emailing him to see if maybe he still has a few stashed away somewhere, but I emailed him 3 years or so back asking and his reply was he'd stopped making them because buyers weren't following the installation instructions, having problems and bringing their guns back to his shop to complain.

So I got her together again. This was at 30ft using that horrible iron sights and keeping both eyes open (something I am not used to) shooting from a bench seated with the sniper hold technique.

I also ran a chrony check on the rifle using 2 pellet types the results were interesting.

Results...

Flat nose

And the pointed or what I call the Jagerprojektil Surprisingly more FPS. The pellets weigh the same I believe. I can double-check that I have a scale. And they are lead pellets.

Overall I'm still very happy with these rifles I'm still unhappy about the barrel dropping after cocking I'm getting on that one seven seven. I'm sure I can fix it somehow. the rest of the internals of this particular rifle seemed okay so that's what matters.
