Buying an FX Impact

All,

I'm new to PCP air gunning and would like a little help with the following questions. Let me know if I need to add detail.

1. Is there a significant accuracy difference with standard barrel and 700mm?

2. About how many times can you fill your airgun with your carbon fiber tanks? (Whatever your tank size and # of fills)

3. Where is the best place to buy and why.

1. No, the shorter barrel won't be less accurate......just will have lower velocity at the same power settings compared to the 700mm length.

2. Based upon my previous rifles, you might get 5 full fills from a 74 cu.ft. tank if going to 250bar. Every fill after that will just be partial fills.

3. Utah Airguns is my choice. I just ordered a Crown from them, my 3rd FX rifle from them.

They are courteous over the phone and always have time to answer your questions.

I don't know a lot about the history or evolution of the Impact from the Gen1 to the Impact X.

It just seems to me from what I've read and watched that the Impact is an extremely versatile and high performance rifle.

I just ordered a new Crown. If I wasn't so much a rifle type of guy I'd have bought the Impact X without hesitation.

I know what you mean about confidence and how that plays a part in your shooting.....I just returned a brand new Air Arms model due to regulator issues.

I think all the issues have been worked through with the Impact.

I own a fx impact .25cal not the x barrel and have had no problems with mine. I was given the opportunity to test the Huma reg before it was released to the general public and it might be a little better than the original fx reg as far as reg creep go's. Accuracy is incredible. AOA is were i bought mine along with several other rifles and other items, and they have always been great to deal with to me. I believe they are the main importer for FX in the usa.

That's correct, you may be able to fill the gun to the max about 5 times with a 74 cu ft tank and after that you may have to settle for a 225 Bar fill and then a 210 Bar fill and then a 200 Bar fill … but it's all good, you don't have to fill the Impact to the max every time because the gun is regulated. It will shoot just as fast and as hard at 175 Bar as it will at 250 Bar. I usually start filling my Impact back up when it gets down to around 150 Bar.

Received my new, black, .30 Impact in the 600mm length one week ago. Bought it from Air Guns of Arizona. The rifle showed up just fine, tested and ready to go. I installed a brand new Hawke Sidewinder 4-16x50 scope and started shooting. What a rifle! Shoots great and looks great; not so much as even a simple blemish on it. And it is crazy accurate, far better than I ever expected.

Besides Utah Airguns and Airguns of Arizona you may also want to take a look at Palm Beach Airguns... they have free shipping on all purchases over $49.00 anywhere in the USA! This store actually answers the phone when you call and really works hard to please the customer...you may want to check it out before you spend $2000.00.

^^^^Well Said^^^^^ This is why I like to shoot tetherd if I’m just shooting off the bench, I can set my external regulator to the PSI I want to shoot at and just shoot away and the only breaks I take are to refill the mags my coffee or to reset the targets if need be, to me it’s more enjoyable when I don’t have to stop shooting to just refill the airgun after so many shots but then again my airguns don’t get 30 to 70 shots per fill either.

+1 On Utah Airguns! A Plus for me was that they accepted PayPal! (Easy to hide the large charges from the Ball & Chain! LOL)

AOA and Airgun Depot don't take PayPal so that was a no go for me to do business with those sellers making such large charges.

You make a very valid point right there, I to like to use PayPal with my airgun purchases it’s just a good way to stay out of the doghouse and what the financial officer(wife) doesn’t know doesn’t hurt and besides it’s my fun money, I also use PayPal for all my pellet purchases.
