Bulldog .357 grouping right

Hi All,

I just received a "slightly used" Bulldog equipped with Pitbull airguns mega moderator and I installed new barrel supports before setting up a scope and sighting it in. The groups are fine for elevation but it is grouping about 10-inches to the right at 15 yards after using up all of my scope adjustment. Here is what I did so far:

  1. Went to low power on the scope so I could see what was happening better (that is when I ran out of adjustment)
  2. Removed the mega moderator to inspect for pellet impact on it and found none.
  3. Noted that bipod mounted to pica tinny rail on moderator was flexing so now will attempt shooting off of a bag to eliminate possible torquing which I don't think is the issue.
  4. ??
  5. Scope is a UTG Accushot 4-16x56 which has worked just great on my modified P-rod .22
    [/LIST=1]

Is this a scope issue or what? Any suggestions would help. This will be the first and last "used" air rifle I buy unless I am doing something very wrong or foolish. If I get it figured out I will report back in as I am sure I am not alone with issues such as this. Thanks

10 inches right at 15 yards is extreme. I would take the scope and mounts off and re do it to make sure it is mounted properly. Then I would try to set the scope adjustment back to the middle setting and start again. If that doesnt work the only thing that is making me think is that you installed new barrel supports. Maybe somehow they pulled your barrel out of alignment. Did you shoot it prior to changing the barrel mounts? and if so was it accurate? My bet is the new barrel supports. Good luck.

Remove the scope, and eyeball down the rail on top. See how it shoots relative to the rail. If it seems to align with the rail, then the mounts or the scope is the problem.

Several company makes "iron sights" for AR-rifles which will mount to your rail. If you want to spend 40 bucks and buy a set for confirmation, that would be useful.

I have also seen this when one of the mounts has the screws on the left, and the other on the right.

I would suggest you place a shout out to other air gunners in New York to see if one of them can give you a hand with it.

Alternately, if you want to send your Bulldog to Arizona, I can take a look at it for you.

I own a bulldog as well.

I have had that very same thing happen with my bulldog and the mega moderator.

The borttom moderator mounting screw, if too long, will extend into thr moderator bore and the resulting collision between bullet and mounting screw manifested itself with a group as you are describing. If your projectile is still going out straight after that collision, you might not see a strike on the moderator muzzle.

You can simply look through you scope on low power and see if the crosshairs intersects the rail.

Once you get you problem settled you will learn that you have a exceedingly fine rifle, so good luck.

Ok, as promised I did all of the suggested things and to no avail. sighting down the space between the top rail and the barrel still landed me a 4 shot group 13inches to the right. Removing barrel supports (except one on end) delivered same result and oh so loud! Since I purchased through Ebay/Paypal I requested a refund and will get it. What I discovered is some radical milling mods done on the crown and one side of the barrel flattened for ??? Anyways, these things were not relayed prior to the sale so I am outta there! Will just buy a new one and build it into a Pitbull little by little. Hunting season coming soon so will do the mods after the fall. Thanks to everyone for their time and effort toward helping me, someday I will reciprocate for someone as well.

I know this is an old thread but I had a Pitbull airgun all of a sudden loose it’s accuracy. My groups were walking all over the place. Tried 3 diff scopes!

The gun then got knocked over (unloaded) by son and dog and the Mega moderator cracked. It’s currently on its way back to Pitbull Airguns.

Was wondering how a gun goes from same hole accuracy to crap?
