Building a feeder from found material

I found a piece of 6” pvc “drain” pipe. I’d like to build a squirrel feeder or two with what I found. Anybody built a feeder with 6” pvc pipe?

Im thinking I need to slope the bottom to get the seed to one side of the pipe. Maybe do that with cutting the pipe at an angle and capping it with wood and also provide a place for squirrels to sit while they crack sunflower seed. Thought suggestions ideas?

We used a 90 degree elbow at the bottom then put a stubby 4" pipe on the outflow and built a little wood deck for them to sit on and pose for the execution. We also used peanuts in the shell so they worked a little harder and longer . The top is capped to keep them from going down the tube. I think we used 3" pvc. Works great, gravity feed and a 50 lb bag of raw nuts is cheep and lasts a long time. Let it go empty for a few days between then refill a day before you want to hunt.

That’s a good idea socaloldman. Thanks! I remember I bought one years ago with a hinged top and clear acrylic front so they can seed the food. That makes em work a little so I can get the cross hairs on them.

I may try and cut a plug to slope the food to the front with a slot for the food to slide out and put a bottom on it with a platform for eating.

I love this type of ingenuity. No one needs to spend money on a fancy feeder. Free is always good in my book. I killed a bunch of squirrels this fall off of a simple cardboard mail tube with a hole cut at the bottom. The rain ruined it though so I gotta make something more weatherproof.

I found some more 6” sewer pipe. Built two more feeders . One is going to the sunflower field to attract sparrows. Trying to get a jump start on them b4 the sunflowers ripen. The other one is going to a buddy of mine that has a hog hunt lease and is eat up with squirrels and coons.
