BSA first focal plane scopes

I know everyone has their preferences, but this scope's reticle is in radians. Nothing the matter with that, if you're already familiar with radians. But if you're used to mil dots, you're going to have to make some adjustments.

In the past, I have acquired two BSA scopes, and didn't like either of them. At the time, I thought their construction was a bit cheap. I trust they've improved over the years.

Just noticed this thread. I have the scope in question and quite like it. I have it on a .22 Marauder it's worked great so far. Probably 300 or 400 shots fired so far. I've used it up to 50 yards very successfully.

FFP is REALLY NICE. No remembering to set at 10x or such. The reticle grows and shrinks with magnification. Really nice

Glass is clear and works extremely well for my needs. Haven't used much as dusk, but seems clear and bright as the sun goes down. Reticle is clear and crisp.

It''s similar to the Primary Arms and half dozen other 4-14x44 scopes out there right now. I think it would work extremely well with a .25 Cal. After all, it was designed for powder burners, so the minor recoil of the .25 PCP really isn't an issue.

It was a Midway USA Special and last I heard they were out, so unless you have a different source, no way to get a new one. Sometimes you can find them on eBay, but beware of counterfeits. eBay is terrible on that. looks like virtually every Zeiss scope is a fake.

It is currently my primary scope, however, since I'm pushing shooting out further to 75 and 100 yards, I currently have a BSA 6-24x installed, and it is a much inferior scope. It has higher magnification, but just isn't as clear and is SFP. Working with it, but may go back to the FFP and lower magnification for my sanity.

The Primary Arms version gets high marks and is (as of today) available from Primary Arms on eBay.

Good luck

I've got one BSA (Midway) and four Primary Arms variants. The PA scopes all have ACSS HUD DMR reticles. The BSA is mil/mil. All but two are on firearms. One of the PA scopes is on a .177 Walther LGV, and another on an FX Impact... ALL are holding zero and performing splendidly. The main differences (between BSA and PA) are adjustment knobs which differ externally, and slight differences in the layout of the scope tube profile. My main niggle with the PA scope is the presense of a few "pepper" spot defects floating in the focal plane on just one of them, and illumination knobs that are VERY hard to turn. Unless and until they fail to function as new, I will continue to wholeheartedly rely on and recommend them.
Hope this helps.

BTW a high school friend (he's class of '80... I'm class of '83) lives in Pearland and frequents Primary Arms. He shared conversations with members of PA staff that thoughtfully explain and account for why their product line continues to exceed user expectations. They (Primary Arms) DEMAND stringent standards and accountability in exchange for paying their Chinese supplier a premium price... a symbiotic relationship that ensures job security for both parties. That coordination and hands-on collaboration with the logistics behind establishing stringent standards are what seems set them apart from the likes of Falcon, BSA, etc. In my experience... the pudding and the proof have met.
