BSA CLX is States side

I'm enjoying it so far. The trigger is amazing. I did chrony it and at first the shot string was a little odd since it's not regulated. I tried to find it's sweat spot but decided to put a regulator in it instead. Lane has one for it. Now the gun is alot more stable. The shot count is not as much as it was before but now it's extremely consistent. I will do a complete shot string on it to see how many shots I get now from a 232 bar fill.

I like the stock on mine.... it's the nicest of my Ultras.

I have a Dreamtac Compact. The side lever on that is the nicest I've used on anything but it's a different type of gun IMO. The Dreamline is a full size rifle too. You're paying for a short rifle and not many other options for under 33 inches

I had an Ultra SE and still have my DTC while you are right that they are very different guns but both are short rifles with different stock/feel at the end of the day. The DTC is night and day more modern with more features even compared to the CLX, only leg up BSA has is the short classic rifle stock. Had they kept the price the same old 599 or even 650 I would have bought one but 850 is a bit much for basically nostalgia. They supposedly simplified the gun and greatly reduced the number of parts which in turn should be cheaper to produce but instead they jacked up the price by $250 or 40%? I get there is inflation and all that but 40% increase in price without adding any additional value is puzzling to me, at the very least add a regulator and free floating hammer. It's like finding out the new ford F150 is 40% more expensive without any new tangible features while reducing number of parts so it's cheaper to make. Last time I checked the inflation isn't that bad yet.

Plus I looked into the new design diagram it looks like a copy of the S200/CZ200 just with their barrel and mag in their block. I might be wrong but it sure doesn't look like they spent a lot of time creating a new modern/innovative design, instead they outsourced to CZ and trying to pocket more money with less work. I could be wrong on the out sourced part but the design certainly isn't anything new at all.

I thought about doing this to my DTC but I like the Power wheel a bit too much.......

fortunately for me I have a S200 and this to hold me over while I think about it.

I agree its a lot for an unregulated gun. I was also considering the Hw110 for similar price. FWIW though I just got a BSA SE also a couple weeks before my CLX and its currently $799 at AoA for the version with Minelli stock. So the CLX is only $50 more.

@pizzAman2976: ah, it’s not the synthetic version I was thinking about. Guess the price increase isn’t too bad but 799 is still more than I would pay for it. Especially when a gamo urban cost less than 300 dollars and essentially the same gun as all other BSA including the barrel just a bit longer. Internal of CLX is similar/identical to The CZ200 which is 500 dollars. BTW the HW110 is a very modern design with very efficient valve and likely THE quiets airgun every made. Not sure about 1100 dollar price given the limited adjustability and power level but a phenomenal airgun if it fits your need out of box.

@elh0102: Goldstar is their FT gun with fancy FT stock and a regulator. The barrel supposedly is made slightly different and supposedly match grade or more accurate than the standard hammer forged BSA barrel. The issue is it also uses the same action/hammer system which is very antiquated and wastes a lot of air due to hammer bounce. It’s something they should of fixed long time ago but they did absolutely nothing to improve their hammer system since the inception of that design decades ago. It’s a shame because they make a good barrel but then again their complacency is probably why Gamo bought them for a song and dance decades ago and since Gamo is a Walmart brand there probably isn't any interest to invest in R&D hence the CLX's "design".
