Brocock Sniper HR power tune

Power tune for pellets or slugs?

I think you know you have 2 choices. Common internal porting/polishing & balancing spring, hammer, projectile weight to barrel length, valve timing, poppet spring variations & materials in stem & face/seating.

Or just add a longer barrel. Most want a short barrel. My dream gun is a heavy BR long beast but for your quest consider this.

At 24” you can estimate speed with one accurate reading. You simply add or subtract 10fps per grain. When you start into going over 24” you can gain quite a bit more per inch. I’ve seen over 20fps gains per inch. Many don’t want a 28-36” barrel.

They knew this long ago. It’s how a 800psi Lewis & Clarke’s got as many powerful shots as it did. When guns like Brown Bess, PA & Kentucky long rifles were the norm, a long barrel air gun wasn’t considered a burden. It was the bees knees.

If you’re power tuning for slugs get a no choke liner no matter the length. Good luck.
