Brocock Contour XL G6 or S6

They are nice little guns. For the price, the quality can't be beat. It's perfect for those who want a compact and light traditional style rifle without having to dive into a bullpup. It is the perfect rifle for those who fill using a hand pump. The walnut stock is really sharp. As you mentioned, their are some trade offs such as the lack of manometer and safety, I would add that even with the Huggett, it is a bit louder than I had expected which may be something to consider for some.

Scott i have one on the way with a Hugget LDC on it, the seller told me that it is not very good at reducing the report of the gun. I will have to see when it gets here, he said it was plastic so I assume it is one of their less expensive LDC's. I know you like Huggets but from what I have seen of them they are very expensive for what you get, just my humble opinion. When I have the time to make one for the Brocock I will most likely post the Hugget in the swag forum, Neil.

LDM I have a Contour super 6 and love it, I also had one of the Contour single shot models but had that stolen from my home earlier this year. I really like the Brococks, for the price they are a very nice little gun and I do mean little, they are so light you could almost shoot them like a pistol using one hand. For a hunter having to tote a gun around with him they are great, the only problem is the small number of shots per fill, so you would have to make every shot count. Not having a gauge does not really bother me, just another thing to go wrong, lol. Mine is super quiet with one of my LDC's on it, it came with a Hugget that the previous owner paid a small fortune for, he wanted it back which I had no problem with since mine was quieter and easy for me to make. I am sure you will like the gun, I love mine and wanted to replace the stolen one, only this time I went with the slightly larger model, Neil.

I hear you Don, mine was pretty much an impulse buy, the price was right and the timing was right so I just pulled the trigger (no pun intended) I have been too busy to really shoot much lately but I am slowly getting caught up with my back orders and hope to be able to get some shooting done very soon. You know what they say about too much work and no play? Well it is almost time for some play, lol All the best, Neil.

Neil,
I have a Brocock Contour XL S6 that I really like for a backyard gun. I have a 12 oz Clearidge scope on it and it is light and fun. I can put 5 18 g JSBs in a target the size of my little fingernail from 25 yards. The problem is that it is too loud with the Hugget. That moderator is only moderate in its ability to moderate. It is the 4 inch sectional Hugget that came on it from AoA.
1. Would it make any difference if I bought another baffle section from AOA and added that in? (if they sell them--has anyone tried?)
2. If I bought another moderator (pm sent to Neil) is it hard to get the Hugget off?

"travels4fun"Neil,

I had no idea you had a Brocock right on! If I had the money, I'd add one to my collection but alas, I don't :(
Scott I had 2 of the Contours until February this year when someone walked into my house and stole one of them while I was in the shop working. I never would have believed someone would do that while I was in my attached garage working. I am in and out all the time between the house and garage so they took a hell of a risk. This is why I recently purchased another Brocock, I love them and wanted to see what the slightly larger Super 6 was capable of, if it shoots half as well as the Contour it is a keeper, all the best, Neil.

PS my house now has security cameras monitoring it night and day!

Correction to my earlier post: The moderator that AoA sold on the Contour XL S6 may have been designed by Hugget. Some say it was made by FX. It is about 4" long and 1.25" in diameter. It has an aluminium tube with a base and a cap section with one plastic or delrin baffle in the cap section. It looks like the the cap section is two sections but it is just one 2" section with a line in the middle. So as it was sold, it was a single baffle system. It does unscrew and when you take it off, that gun really cracks. Sounds like a .22 to me.
