Brocock Compatto .25

I received my Compatto in .25 Wednesday and mounted a Hawke Air Max 30 6-24X50 on FX No Limits Mounts.
I sighted it in this morning. 1st shot at .25 was only 4 clicks to the left in windage and 2 clicks high on elevation.

Literally a 2 shot sighting. WOW! I proceeded to shoot at my 2" swinging targets at 50 yards although it had begun
to rain. 4 for 4 and this thing hits HARD shooting JSB Kings 25.39 grain pellets.

I was sitting under my covered patio where I shoot from (you didn't think I was sitting in the rain with a new gun did you?) gloating over this fine gun / scope
combo when my cat suddenly became alert. I looked to my left and there was one of the quail predator birds I have trouble with not 5 yards away just standing and watching me.

I fumbled just a bit being taken by surprise when it did not run away and took my shot. It was clean through knocking him off his feet. These are big armored feather birds but he was no match for the Compatto and JSB kings.

I see why KIp Perow said in a recent AOA video that the Compatto he was using was his own purchase. I HIGHLY recommend this gun. Daystate / Brocock hit the bulls eye dead center on this one!

The only irritation is the same one I have with all non US manufacturers who are stuck on fill probes that require an adapter to convert it to a standard male foster. All guns sent to the USA should be male foster native and not require any adapter.

I have no data since I just got it. I will be collecting more data and Chronograph it too in the next few days hopefully. I would say just from Gut feel it is very comparable to my Cricket but the Cricket took a fair amount of fiddling to get it where I wanted it while this Compatto pleased me right out of the box. I will likely be ordering a LOT more of these.

Initial Chrony results are High power about 650 fps average giving only about 25 foot pounds power shooting 25.4 grain JSB's vs 40 ft/lb from my Marauder, 40 ft/lb from my Regulated Condor and 50 ft/lb from my Cricket. The power from the Compatto is a bit disappointing but not unexpected (end panel of the box is marked 25 to 30 ft/lb....which is roughly equivalent to a .22 Short CB round.

Consider before you get rid of it that your BT65 should be capable of producing MUCH more power.

Hello, I consider this .25 a medium hitting gun. It is not medium in accuracy. Here is a shot string i did. Before I got this gun There was absolutely NO data. Tidbits maybe. I went for it. More Power more Air. My next Rifle will be 30 cal.. Are you going to get rid of it? Have a good one !

I like the Compatto. It is a great form factor and shoots laser accurate (at least in my limited testing out to 50 yards) But for the English to understand and capture the American market they are going to have to get a mindset for power levels which are not allowed in their land.

Thanks for your figures. They confirm what I was finding with very limited testing.

My next puzzlement (which will be a new thread) is with the Daystate Regal XL in .25 which is marked 30 ft/lb on the box and the included test paperwork BUT is advertised on Daystate's Site and Literature as well as AOA as a 40 ft/lb gun ???.

"Almost" all my guns are for sale. It's what I do. ;)

Make no mistake this gun has the power for small game (Jim Chapman has a good video hunting Jack Rabbits with it) and I would not hesitate to use it on anything smaller than a Coyote (I think with the accuracy it has it will make a very fine Prairie Dog shooter which is my main purpose for this gun) but after having a Condor that does nearly 100 ft/lb in .25 with hand cast 50 grain bullets I am somewhat lustful for "power" lol!

Thurmond

I have the Compatto in 0.22 caliber and mine is laser accurate as well. Mine is putting out 27 ft lbs of energy with 15.9 JSB's for roughly 20 shots given the small tank. That being said, I'm not parting with it as it has proven itself in the field multiple times this year. The small air tank also makes it easy to top off by a hand pump. I went with the 0.22 caliber knowing that the 0.25 didn't have much more energy, choosing a flatter trajectory instead.

"T3PRanch"Got my missing Huggett today for the Compatto. A truly AMAZING 6" piece of work. All I can hear now is the sling shot bolt slap the valve. ;)

Next up... see if the power can be increased to 40 foot pounds. :)

Thurmond,
You sound very excited about build quality, fit an finish along with performance . It is a great little package. I love my 25 too ! If I had to hand pump it , it would only takes 50 to 2900psi from 1850psi. Please let us know how you fare on upping the slingshot hammer. Tony Belas at daystate States " You can internally turn up the power". Won't let me link ???? He said it was something like increasing the gap of the hammer cage. That is as much as I've found. For now I'll just enjoy shooting it.

Is that the Huggett Belita you are talking about? (which measures 5 inches, but comes closest to what you describe as 6).

I tried that Belita on the .22 Compatto but was not really impressed with the silencing. So I used a HW silencer instead (tried them side by side so got a really good comparison.) The only drawback was that it made the gun much longer, so I'll try a Daytate Airstream nect. (which is a reflex silencer, so it'll go halfway over the shroud)
Most likely not as quiet as the HW (nor the Belita) but it will do wonders for the looks!

So far I see the Compatto is probably adjustable BUT Brocock / Daystate appears to have used an Aluminum Plug at the back of the Breech Block which blocks access and I have not yet determined if it can be removed without marring the block and voiding the warranty. The Hammer attached valve striker pin and locking set screw is clearly visible and reachable from the side of the block when the stock is removed.

There is a glued set screw directly below the 3 position power adjustment knob but it has no effect on velocity and appears to just limit the adjuster wheel over travel on each end.

Yes I am speaking of the Belita which is in fact 4.73" end to end. I shot the Compatto on high power setting for about 4 days with no moderator and the difference is VERY noticeable (wife complains vs wife doesn't notice....real world test lol).

Testing today did show a higher power at just a bit over 30 foot pounds than initial testing showed a few days ago. Not sure what changed but something caused an increase of 5 foot pounds. Probably something wearing in.

So I got my Airstream silencer in...
I'll let the specs speak for themselves:
Measurements were done with the decibelmeter at one meter distance under a 45* angle from the muzzle. Compatto .22 Hi power from 200bar

Without silencer: 114.4 dBA
With the Airstream: 108.8 dBA
With HW (Weihrauch) silencer: 95.7 dBA

For practical purposes the Airstream is only good for looks (and it does look SUPERB, nothing will top that!) and to take the "pain" (I mean that literally) out of the unsilenced gun. (unsilenced you definately NEED hearing protection!).

But if you want any real silencing you better steer way clear of it. If you compare the numbers between the HW (which is considered the benchmark in the airgun industry (at least here in EU) to the Airstream, you see that the Airstream is 16 (!) times as loud... (remember the loundess scale is not linear)

So my personal verdict: Looks 10 (A+), silencing: 1 (F-)

Of course when youre limited to 12 FPE (like the British are) it might just work, but I don't have a 12 FPE Compatto at hand so I couldn't tell you...
