Brocock Bantam Sniper......disappointed?????

I have the Sniper HR in .22 and have been very satisfied. For context, I am new to PCP's but not to airguns owning several springers and pumps since the early 80's. My only other PCP is Gamo Urban. I have added a Sightron S2 Big Sky 4-16 mil dot scope with medium Burris Signature rings, a DonnyFL moderator, and Noveske flush QD mount for 3-point sling. I have put around 2K pellets through the Sniper and use it exclusively for squirrel hunting. I purchased the sniper because it checked all the boxes for me - quality barrel, free-floating barrel, threaded barrel, semi-bullpup (short overall length), regulated, large air capacity, regulator/spring tune-ability, ability for low scope mount, adjustable trigger, quality magazine, relatively low report, and overall good looking IMO. After owning and using for several months, all the above hold true for me. In fact, the trigger is better than I expected and was adjusted very easily to under 2lbs with zero creep and excellent predictability. The gun was even quieter than I expected and with the DonnyFL, it sounds like a toy. You quickly realize the power when the thud of a pellet impacting squirrel echos through the woods! i have not spent a great deal of quality range time and most of the ~2K pellets were fired indoors at close range. I have shot it through the chronograph on multiple occasions and found the JSB 16's running at around 880 and the 18's around 850 with my reg factory set at 130. The 16's appear to shoot the best but, again, I really need more bench time in perfect conditions to sort out which pellets fly the best. Currently, the 16's make a ragged nickle-sized hole at 35-40 yards (range I shoot most squirrels). While the Urban does this as well, I only get about 25-30 shots before requiring a refill. I truly lose count with the sniper but it must be dozens of shots before the impact falls below that nickle-sized hole, requiring a refill. I have not altered the reg or hammer spring tension but may after squirrel season ends to accommodate 25gr JSB's. Fact is, I could leave the settings as is and be content.

So, am I disappointed in anything? No. However, I do wish the pistol grip were slightly larger. I have big hands so many folks will not find this an issue. There are a few, say a dozen or so, tiny lead shavings on the magazine shelf after I fire a tank of air. However, the mag feeds well and I have had no issues with jams. I cannot comment on long range accuracy with the mag vs single feed as I have not tested anything yet. However, the minute of squirrel head is spot on out to 40 yards and probably much further. I agree with a previous post that the bolt needs to be locked down when closed. If you are not careful, you can unknowingly bump it open while hunting and fire with the breach open. The gun is heavy compared to the Gamo, but, it's not a big deal to me. I am used to carrying far heavier varmint-barreled rimfires in the woods. I have to say that I like this little rifle so much that I have not taken a rimfire into the woods since owning it, and that's saying a lot as it has seemingly replaced a highly customized and extremely accurate Sako Quad as my go-to squirrel gun.

I own the Bantam Sniper Magnum that I bought from AOA . Like many of you , I wanted an FX rifle at first. I went to AOA and unfortunately they had a fall out with FX. So they no longer sold them, except for a couple stragglers they had. I wanted something reliable and accurate, being my first high end PCP. I also owned a Hatsan Bullboss, which is an awesome rifle in .22. The first Bantam I got was dead accurate at 20 yds with 1/4” grouping. It wasn’t very accurate out at 50yds. The grouping was approximately an inch and a half. I had dropped 2600.00 bucks on the set up I bought which includes the Aztec scope bipod Ammo case etc. I took it back and they tuned it but still was not grouping like it should. They exchanged it and the second one tuned and dialed in at 50 yds. Now it’s very accurate and loves the JSB 18.13 @950fps, but shoots even better with the 25.39@ 890fps average at 20yds, 45fpe. The grouping is still about 1/4 inch at 20 yds. The Regulator is set to 155 and is tuned by AOA. my only complaint is the bolt could use a heavier handle. I did blow out the breach seal once. Accidentally bumped it partially open and did not notice when I fired it. Also I find that putting my thumb on the rear block when pulling back the bolt insures it cocked properly, by other wise you can double feed. If you use slugs, use the single tray or you may jam the magazine. It’s difficult to remove if that happens.

I wonder why DayState has so many mag problems. One of the best looking mag, an one of the most expensive mags out there. I have no idea who makes them for DayState/Brocock. I know they don't make much of anything themselves any more. Just assemble parts. But they could test and find the issues. GRRRRR!!!

Same issues wit transfer ports shaving pellets for years before they finally fixed the issues. They Only Denied there was an issue. At this price level, Hello!

Loved my Air Wolf, but I did have to take it down a polish the port. Many-Many customers did.
