Bragging rites for ED-Gun Leshiy .22 caliber , 186 yard headshot offhand

I was shooting my ED-gun leshiy I got from Ed Gun west and I fitted it with a Burris 34mm optic currently , well I was shooting hickory nuts off my 50 and 75 yard target stands with my leshiy with scope on 3x , I saw 2 crows land on a tree I had my lieca 1600b on me and ranged him t 186 yards and wind was 11mph full wind , I had spend a few days fine tuning and calibrating streloc pro to this gun so , I put in inputs and it was 16.48mils hold and for wind 8.5mils , I dialed up 16.5 mils I dialed 6 mils for wind when leaves lulled I held 1.5 more mils and fired putting it rite on his head , here he is head shot 186 yards with a 27fpe .22 cal leshiy , and it was offhand just using corner of my house with my arm and resting middle of gun on my arm , How can you get more accurate then this , I own 8 other .22 caliber pcp guns , I have been making hits constantly more on this then my FX guns ,I do shoot alot and it takes alot to impress me , for a 12 inch barrel in 22 cal at 27fpe I am impressed more and more every day . I love this gun and the way it is tuned with trigger , I love the wooden handle from edgun west and the long barrel is a great upgrade for accuracy ,I mean no harmonics

tweeter I shot every day I go threw 50k pellets a yr , and I usually rotate my 22 cal guns from my wildcat , cricket , royale , spa , s510 and air force and evanix , since I got this leshiy a month ago I been shooting this thing all the time , to be honest when I get a new gun i spend time tuning it and making ammo , so i look forward to tweaking modding tuning , as for this leshiy in 22 it was good stock better with longer barrel and now my new favorite pcp I love it , you know i have 2 other 22 cal pcps in single shot they collect dust , this wont I feel comfortable already taking 150 yard shots any time , and it is a 12 inch barrel , I feel comfortable taking a shot with my wildcat at 88 yards max so this has alot to say . this was not a lucky shot yesterday I shot 500 pellets across my pond at 110 yards and i shot min beer cans and i hit 90% off hand on 3x with burris xt 11 dialing .5,2 mils I alwys thought a light gun was like jittery t is with say centerfire rifles weightand size is my friend this goes against that , I got to say when I watched Teds holdover and bought it I thought I would have a serious project on my hand to hit an apple at 50 yards I saw his group like 4 inches at 50 yards and he said he missed birds at 40 with it When I took my 4th shot I was like all my pellets touched out of box at 50 yards I smiled , I dont get many guns out of box this accurate , Which caliber did you get ? Let me know and please post your groups , I got 22 because it is all I can hunt with and I can put this in a back pack with a guppy tank and have 500 shots with same weight as any rifle I own with the guppy tank my gun weighs 4.1 with scope how can you beat this ? and can wack a crow 186 yards lol ,I would not of taken this shot with my wildcat , I would with my cricket or my royale 400,I like it most the weight , and i am digging a close range scope all my rifles have hi power optics , But while I target shoot alot I do this to keep sharp dialing firing solutions for centerfires and long range

Yes this day I used 3x on that I use dirfferent gun different mag each time I shoot offhand.prone running standing sitting ,or bench .But I mainly shoot the way I hunt now to sharpen up , Low mag is as deadly as high mag , accually I find low mag better , you know i own pm2 , steiners , ect up to 25x I rarely go past 10 x , I like lower powers for field of view and steadiness m, The only time I use very hi mag is to spot , trace bullet trace or to Mil a target or to call corrections for other shooter if i don't have a spotting scope ,

Hi power is king for target shooting paper like pcp 25m , but in hunting here a 4x or 6x is better suited as field of view , A good 1x or 2x can be used to bang steel with a AR 500 yards

Well just color me impressed. When I attended the Army's AMTU sniper course back in '85, they issued us the M-21 system which was basically an M-14 with an ART II scope mounted. So to bring things down to scale, from an elevation perspective (and probably windage), you just pulled off the equivalent of a 1150yd shot with a 7.62 nato round.

You bring up some good points also. The ART2 scope on our rifle was 3-9x and when I competed All Army with the M-16, we shot 100m through 400m with open sights. Seems the top score bullseye on target was a 3 or 4 inch(sorry, memories a bit fuzzy) V ring. The guys who competed with browngun (m-14) shot out to 1000yds with open sights.

So yeah, high magnification is overrated although there's a place for it. I've got a 4-16×42 on the Regal and I've noticed some days at 50yd, I can actually get tighter groups by dialing the mag back to 12 or even 10x.

Anyways, very nice shot mate. And you guys keep teaching me stuff... I downloaded Strelok Pro while at work last night and it's pretty awesome. Got my new Vortex scope/wildcat/ammo info entered in and can't wait to play if I can just get some time off from work.

cheers

well said Chohan ,

ART2 wow , great optic for its day effective redfield 3-9 , 1 inch tube

think back then if we had the optics of today , I am blessed to have good glass ,

chohan you know the inputs are key to program if you have a chrono , do a fps difference to get bc of your gun , if you dont then zero gun at say 25 or 50 what ever you use and shoot out further and input drop data and yards the program will adjust bc for you ,

I have a question do you dial or hold or both ? one day I dial one day I hold , but you understand I use pcp guns to keep my firing solutions sharp for centerfires ,?

Chohan do you use clock method for wind >? I know things evolved since the teachings back then but I like simple

Hookster and jwrabbit, yeah the strelok pro looks to be amazing. I still need to input scope height and and fps since I'm still waiting on my chrono. Found a nice setup tutorial on youtube that AnimalHitman linked in another thread. I ordered a combro from the UK but probably going to break down and order the precision electronics cause the waiting is killing me. I'm just really amazed what you mates are doing with these airguns. I get a big kick out of the YouTube video also.

Jwrabbit, yeah clock method for wind and using holdover presently but I want to start using dials. I'm sure things have evolved and I've been out of the centerfire game for a long time do to severe tinnitus. Even rim fire at standard velocity was irritating so these pcp airguns have given me a second lease on shooting. No turning back now, lol.

Btw, sorry for delayed response, working 12hr nights and sleeping all day puts a crimp in my online time. cheers

ok great if u need any help with set up pm me . if chrono task a while there is free apps if you have cell phone , this program works best when you adjust bc of ammo and temps and baro if shooting long distances , in advanced settings you an turn on Coriolis or spin drift , ect ect ,Today I went shooting and my fingers have been bothering e like my finger joints are rusted I got checked for lyme disease it was neg ,I got xray for arthriitis and neg now the dr said it may be this and took blood , I also have pain started 3 mo ago does this sound same problem you had ?

Ok, thanks for the offer. I'm sure to have a few questions later down the line.

As for the other, no sorry mate. My problem is tinnitus, i.e. loud, persistent and constant ringing of the ears since 1985. Although, I have noticed after cocking the bolt on the regal about 80 times, the actual bone in my index finger actually feels sore for the next couple days. But I getting old, lol.

Glad to hear the Lyme checked negative. One of my uncles survived WWII as a fighter pilot in the Pacific only to die to a tick bite back in the late 60's. Took his boy deer hunting up in the Blue Ridge and they didn't catch it quick enough after he fell sick upon returning.

Hope they get you diagnosed and straightened out brother. cheers
