BP17 w Shogun LDC pic

Hey guys, this BP17 turned out so nice with the Donny FL adapter and a Shogun...I just had to share this pic!

Working on a video now...but the BP17 is hard to work with. The safety fell out day 1, then the air tank leaks overnight, also 3-5 of the extra mags I bought from PY Air don’t really fit in the gun. They don’t cycle and I had to use a sledge hammer to get them out a few times, it also shoots regular flyers. My AP16 can out shoot it at 35 and 50 yards. Hopefully the regulator will settle in soon,

This gun is like a beautiful girl. It is super high maintenance, it has some major issues, but it’s so good looking...I just don’t care.

I’ll send it in for repair once I’ve done 700 rounds though it. PY Air said I can’t return it because I waited over 30 days to call them. I told them I had an Airgun Channel and just opened the gun 2 days before. ...nothing... they said it was under warranty. Too bad Ataman doesn’t air up thier guns and let them sit for 2 weeks like Daystate and many other companies. ...it’s called quality control...I guess if you put a high enough price on something...there is no need to test it before it leaves the factory.

On the rifle -

I've also got a BP17. Other than the slightly fiddly magazine install/alignment, I'm happy with mine.

I played with a few different things inside of the factory "can"...on the end of the barrel. It's just a big empty can. I finally settled on installing three baffles, two are spring loaded. Made a good sized difference in the perceived loudness of the shot. No extra cans for me.

I'm pretty sure he is referring to the plastic cap on the end of the stock moderator. Another approach is getting a 14mm Donny adapter, ditching the stock moderator and adding one of your choice. The stock mod is just an empty can.

So...be productive, experiment. Don't just through a bunch of money at someone else for their product.

Like I said above, I made my "empty can" useful by experimenting. My first 3 attempts failed. Hell, one even made the report...louder..!

But,a few things from the local hobby shop, maybe $25 worth a little time spent, my BP17 is now much quieter, it's still short, and it didn't lighten my wallet much to get there.

Are you saying I'm not being productive? I'm not sure I catch your meaning.

Regardless, if you want you BP17 to look real sleek you can get the 14mm adapter, mill off just about up to the first set screw and then use any moderator you want keeping the gun short. A Donny Koi worked well as did a Huggett Astille.

Here's a pic with her top off, stock mod on the bottom for comparison:

DON'T BUY A BP17!!!! THEY SUCK SO BAD!!!! --10 inch off flyers ARE THE NORM! I shot my brand new $800 Galaxy S8 phone (2 years ago) because that damn piece of crap was shooting BEYOND WILD.

Did I mention it also broke in the first 2 days? Charging handle stopped.

ATAMAN has NO QUALITY CONTROL.....they ship guns with defects (non working safety's etc.)

Has anyone ever shot a match or won a contest with an Ataman? Hell no. Even though they have $3k models. The people who run that company won't put down the bong for 5 minutes.
