Multi-cal Boss project.

Hey Nathan check out all the cool slugs in 22 caliber at mr hollowpoint. Com. If he doesn't have the exact size you need Bob will run some slugs through a sizer for you so they are the right size for your Barrel if necessary. I have known Bob Vogel for many years and vouch for the consistency and quality of his slugs. He really makes some nice stuff... mostly hollowpoint out of pure soft lead that expand to double their size on impact

Thanks for the heads up, I've watched his videos before and he's a super funny guy really entertaining. And those slugs shapes are so different with that massive HP. So far I've had great results with NSA and will try some of the 28gr tomorrow (I'll bring the chrony), they did pretty good before but with this extra shove it should help.

Still have a full turn left on HST, this is with the stock hammer weight and within 5 Bar of factory settings. This thing is nasty and has much more in it, here's a shot with a 33.95gr JSB Beast.

And just so everyone knows they sold the Boss here in Canada, me getting everything from USA was just an availability thing. I declared it at the border no problem, just to clarify that this is all legal.

All the work is very nice Glem.

Thanks Mubhaur,

I ordered the T.Robb pellet sizer to size piledrivers and possibly others for the unchoked barrel. It mainly does the head as its tapered smaller the deeper you set it.

Seems to work well! I wasn't sure if it would work on non diabolo shape but so far so good. Chamber nicely now, snug but not obscene. Gonna sling some tomorrow along with baracudas and the 28gr bt see how they go. I already had decent results at 50m with the out of the tin piledrivers.

As promised went to the range a bit today and brought the chrony, the first hour or so the light wasn't good enough so I just kind of guessed what speed I was and just shot. Nothing spectacular and when the chrony finally worked I realized I was shooting the Baracuda's around 1050 but still getting good groups.

TBH I'm not sure if this is 4 or 5 shots I was single loading and sometimes lose track but it's 100m with Baracudas.

Once the chrony worked I concentrated on getting more data at the high power setting. Some of these I topped up right after as they were close to the reg cut off and look like a declining string.

Holy velocity!!!

The BM pellets did that group at 100m?

I might have to try them in my Crown. I bought a few tins for the Ultimate Sporter but it didn't like them. Maybe the new rifle will.

Again, very impressive!

:)

Yeah they did, I've had great results with them already out of this barrel. Also had good results with those in .22 and .25 ST almost as good as JSB from what I remember but a bit heavier than the 18's

Thanks again Bob

Absolutely cool! Brings back fond memories of my Sumatra experiments years ago! Now just have to see what kind of accuracy you get at 50, 75, and 100 with both pellets. In my previous experiments with the EunJin 43 grainers the faster I shot them the more accurate they were... but what I hope to find out is how accurate are the MKI at 959 ft/s. Bob Sterne considers 960 ft/s the "ideal" velocity for air rifles. I wonder what some of his .25 cal boat tail slugs would do out of that rifle? He is still on the GTA I think...

I've brought the .22 the last few times to the Range but next time I'll bring it like this, I was actually all set to go today but last night I had a weird issue where it wasn't making much power like 700 or so with heavies. Took a while to figure out the problem, the small o-ring that holds the valve stem in the stem holder was torn, like in half. Replaced that and all is good, had me second guessing the chronograph because it was sounding like it was making power. But as soon as I changed that out I heard the noticeable difference that it was back to normal.

Anyways yeah Bob is still there, he's from my Province actually. I have looked at the molds at NOE, once I get some feedback from the slug liners in .25 I think the 39gr hollowpoint would be good.

J.W.Rabbit says he has many molds and lots of experience with them so hopefully I'll pick his brain a bit once I get there.

I think the EunJin's will be too long to stabilize with the pellet twist barrel I tried them when I first got the gun but that was around 50fpe, but I'll give them a try as well as the Heavies at 950-960. I imagine the EunJins are kind of hard on a smooth twist barrel with the choke, they're hard lead and pretty oversized for those Korean barrels. Maybe just my perception though.

Yea Bob sent me 100 of those .25 boat tails to test out of his first mold... they did not shoot accurately out of my Sumatra so I didn't pursue it any further. I always loved reading his posts and picking his brain for ideas though... I consider him to be a genius IQ person with a big big heart for helping people. At that time I came very close to buying a press and dies from Dave Corbin so I could start swaging pellets of my own design but my good sense got the best of me. I would have had to sell thousands upon thousands just to recoup the cost of the press and dies etc. Out of all the slugs I got from various people my Sumatra liked the 49 grain flat nose from Hunters Supply sized .251 the best of all. The 50 grain round nose and the 48 grain hollow points from Hunter Supply shot terrible...but the flat nose were extremely impressive. I encourage you to try some for your slug liner if you ever are able to get one from FX. And thanks for the updates... I for one am very interested in your project and its results.

All great work

Thank you sir!

Went to the range this morning with the .25 STX setup on the Boss and using the B liner. I was going to record this 50m card but after 2 shots it wasn't happening, maybe with a sideshot but I have a hard time shooting well without holding the gun properly.

Don't mind the coffee heh, the 50m card is with Kings after giving it a turn and a half back on HST. 900ish probably.

And then some 100m groups all at 950fps with MKII, I was having fliers ruining good groups but could very well be me. Got a couple under and inch.

Wow Nate, good looking groups. Kind of looks like the orange dots are giving you a defined aiming point and those groups look the tightest....... except for the stinking fliers. Were these sorted and to what extreme? Chuck extreme or Jimmy and Nate extreme? haha. Excellent shooting non the less. Glad your having better results with that B liner than what I did. Oh, maybe I was just getting it broke in for ya.

Thanks buddy, yeah you have a point about the dots giving me a better point of aim all in all im pretty happy. Indeed these are weighed 33.9-34.10 so they're in the 34gr tin, I guess that's Nate extreme I'm not sure how extreme you guys get lol.

Still haven't tried the A liner, is that what you shoot in your Crown? I can't quite get the consistency you get with your Crown yet but yeah the B liner should be well broken in now. ;)

Very nice for first time out! I guess the B Liner just needs that higher velocity to shoot well? Those groups surely will whet your appetite for more! Now I can't hardly wait to see what she does with the darn A Liner! :)

Thanks Chuck, yeah that could be about the speed. Ive now put the A liner in ill shoot that next time out. The A was the worse of the two for you?
