Bocock Bantam set up

My other 2 Bantams are top gun in picture full power .22 that I use for pest control and HFT on windy days. It's set @ 18 ftlbs (where it's most accurate ) I shoot JSB 15 gr. Hawke 6-24 airmax, BKL rings, Rowen Engineering single shot loader. I actually won my class last fall at the Pa. Field Target State Championship shooting this gun in HFT. Second Bantam in the picture is a full power .177 that I shoot on medium power which is 15 ftlbs with JSB 10.34 gr. This is the gun I shoot the most in HTF. Same equipment on this gun as the other 2. Both full power guns have the Reflex Moderators.

My first pellet rifle and PCP at that.

Bantam .25 Hi-Lite Beech. Trident moderator. Aztec Emerald 5.5-25x50 scope. Omega 95 cu ft air cylinder.

All I’ve tried with it are JSB Exact King 25 gr. Groups for me about the size of a quarter at 35 yards or so. It can probably shoot better than I can.

Have dispatched about 25 prairie dogs (that were eating my cacti and tree roots) at up to 50 yards with it. No chrony, so I don’t have numbers, but those JSB 25’s hit with authority! I just leave the power setting on full. I’m told this rifle, with JSB 25 gr pellets, gets around 800 fps and 36 fpe.

The back yard, with my steel swingers out about 30 yards. Those steel swingers sure give out quite a THWANG when the 25 gr pellets slam into them. I’m planning to get a .22 to shoot them with lighter pellets and, hopefully, a little less sound from the rifle.

I know from your other threads that you're looking for a quieter rifle. That pic of your back yard looks like you don't have any nearby neighbors and that you live in a secluded area. Unless the other side of the pic doesn't show what's in the front. What gives?

There is a neighbor to the right of this photo, not far away. And another neighbor on the left of this photo, but a bit farther away. I would like to do a lot of shooting, as I’m home all day every day, so keeping it on the quieter side makes good sense so I don’t create any irritation, especially with the one neighbor who is closer.

I’m ok with popping off a magazine of 10 during the day with my Bantam .25, but hesitate to get into any prolonged shooting sessions with it. If I can have fun shooting with a .22 having even less noise, I’ll be happier. And I think the neighbor would be less likely to be bothered, as well.

That explains it. Good luck on your future purchase.

Thanks. That’s a really cool avatar you have, btw. Interesting story behind it?

The drawing used as my avatar indicates where I'm from. Guam. A U.S. Territory in the north-west Pacific Ocean. The stone pillars you see were once used as foundations for houses used by the indigenous/ancient inhabitants of Guam and the Marianas Islands. They are called latte stones. More here:

The drawing was done by a Spanish artist in the 1700's on the island of Tinian which is one of the Marianas Islands north of Guam. It's called The House of Taga. A famous island chief in the 1600's from Guam who moved to the island of Tinian to rule. Tinian was also the island where US Forces flew the atomic bomb to Japan and dropped it on Hiroshima and Nagasaki ending World War II.

House of Taga. Interesting story if you have time:

My user name, Peskadot, in my native Chamoru language means to fish/hunt. That's why you see a few hunters/gatherers in the drawing. 671 is Guam's area code.

Very cool. I had a feeling there was a lot going on behind the scenes of that avatar. Thank you.

what ever you purchase get a Donny fl shogun I had the tatsu on my bantam 22 it was backyard friendly for sure now with the shogun its virtually silent but is longer thought I would not like the extra length but trade off for silent is more satisfying to me shot a sparrow at 23 yards the others just sat there wondering what happened to him its that good then got him also silent is deadly even target shooting getting better accuracy with the shogun to the tatsu also or the shooter is getting better lol

Hey man... sounds like a shogun might be in order for me. 😆. I kinda miss my Bantam Hi-Lite .25, but I am sure enjoying the Red Wolf .22.

Bantam Hi-Lite is a great little rifle - awesome size, being a semi-BP. My .25 was very accurate and hit hard with the .25 gr JSBs.
