You might get a laugh out of this, especially if you know Valerie Chilton aka PerkyVal.

The only time I can use the 100-250 yard lanes at the range when no firearms are around is when Val takes me. Shes an RSO there so has access whenever she wants. She also is granted special privileges because she primarily shoots airguns these days.

At any rate, I need to practice as much as I can for the next Trenier 100 match, as well as an up coming fun shoot, and she felt well enough to go today, and had no work.

I was doing OK considering I've only been shooting airguns for a very short time, and I was shooting an Impact which is totally a different experience compared to shooting the Crown.

I was consistently shooting 10 shot groups less than 2" and a few near 1.5". There was absolutely no wind at all.

I was fully expecting a great deal of ribbing as she is a much better shot with an airgun due to more experience, and she was shooting her Crown with weighed pellets.

I started hearing her swear a bit. Not unusual for her, in fact I'm quite sure she'd make a sailor blush in normal conversation. Pretty soon she was damn near screaming everytime she shot. I asked what her malfunction was. She told me to F-off and leave her alone. Discretion being the better part of valor, I did just that.

We shoot 50 yard rim fire targets that have 25 targets, and 3 sighters. Much smaller than used at 75 or 100 yard airgun matches. We were shooting 100 yards today. After a while it was time to walk down and bring back the targets for her to look at, then change them.

Her groups were 4 to 5 inches. It was obvious why she was bitching so much.

Out came the cleaning kit, out came the barrel liner, and she proceeded to clean the barrel all the while asking me what I had done to her precious Crown after I bought it from her. I assure her I had not done anything, that I hadn't got around to it before she guilted me into trading for her pink monstrosity. She didn't believe me of course.

Until she noticed that she had the hammer spring wheel set on 2 because she had been shooting in her backyard, which I know for a fact she remembered before shooting because I saw her cranking on the top turret before a shot was fired.

I put new targets out and she got to shoot 2 very good groups before it started to rain. Another torrent of foul language signaled the end of our target practice today. Although she did get one more extraordinary shot, that I refuse to comment about.

I guess the point of the story, other than the primary reason which is to tweak Valerie, is that even someone that has shot for years, and countless pellets can, and will forget the most basic things.

I went to the range one time shortly after converting my Royale to a Boss.  I was disappointed that I couldn't get much more oomph.  When I got home I took the HST nut out and realized I still had the R500 hammerweight in.  Durp happens to everyone.

Oh Snake, wanna tell the rest of the story?? Perhaps mention who brought the wrong pellets for his gun?

    Lol

Yeah, it wouldnt have been so embarrassing if I hadn't gone and taken the barrel off, or if I had got to shoot the rest if the tin.

True enough, I just normally have witnesses…lol

I guess I should have Clinton-ed him before we left the range.

Honest officer, he was so distraught at being outshot by a girl……..

It's more of a Hot Pink, and by the time I'll be shooting where there's a lot of people it most definitely under go a color change. I'm just trying to figure out whether or not to just buy new parts from FX or have the pink bits powder coated a different color.

Maybe buy new parts and save the pink bits for Val when she buys her next Impact? Kind of a goodwill gesture to make sure the range is always open when you need it?

I did offer exactly that, but she wasn't interested at all. Still, it may be a wise thing as she never ever changes her mind…lol

It's about $200 for the top rail, and 2 side pieces. I do have the original moderator, and shes looking for the original grip. I'm waiting on a quote to have those pieces stripped and powder coated, and unless that cost is very cheap I may just buy the new stuff.

Hey Columbrine, let me know if you decide you'd like to sell the pink parts.  I would consider asking my wife if she'd be interested in having her Impact "feminized".  She might like something to set her Impact apart, and proudly display she shoots like a girl!  Do you have any pics of the parts?

And in case it's a pre-requisite… she is a blonde (as long as I keep paying that bottle maintenance fee!).
