the non 1911 grips are very nice and the same used on the HW 75

The 45 is accurate, but really takes practice to get to where you are consistent with it. When you pull the trigger you know you have shot something. It's fun to shoot in that regard.

The 75 is easy to shoot, accurate, great trigger....etc. When you pull the trigger it is pretty uneventful, other than the pellet hitting the bullseye .

Was a little confused by the term "pump pistol?" I think this is already clear from the previous responses, but:

**The HW 45 is the same as the Beeman P1 (not the P11), and has replaceable side-panel type grips matching the venerable Colt .45 auto. It is a recoiling spring-piston gun.

**The P11 is the same basic gun, but with the grip frame cut to take a one-piece wood target grip. The P1 and P11 are both available in either black or silver finish.

**The HW 75 (at one time sold as the Beeman P2) is a lower-powered, recoilless, single-stroke pneumatic built on the same basic frame. Older ones will be seen with the slab grips, but most newer ones share the one-piece target grip with the P11.

I've had a P1 (HW 45) springer for many years and love it. IMHO it's about the best non-match springer pistol ever made. Plenty of power, great trigger, accurate, extremely durable high-quality construction, but it's a bit pricey and don't expect accuracy miracles out of the box. It requires good old fashioned break-in and practice to shoot well.

I shot a P2 (HW 75) pneumatic a couple years ago and fell in love with it instantly. All the P1's good points, minus the power of course, but adding true recoilless action. Wonderful target pistol.

If you just want to try out a single-stroke pneumatic powerplant, you can do that for pocket change with the Beeman P17, a really fine pistol you can pick up new for $45 or less. It actually has about the same power as the HW 75.

Apologies are in order: I had my model numbers turned around in my post above (I called the HW 75 an HW 45 near the end).

Mike Driskill I have a question for you on the P2's

from what I read in the old Beeman catalogs is the p2's came in with full grip frames and Beeman was the one cutting and mounting the HW75 style grips on them at time of sale as a up charge to the customer

I do own a full frame P2

so is this how you understand it on the old P2's
