BKL or Sports Match....stick with one or try the other.

Just fishing for some experienced based opinions here on the topic of quality mounts. I currently am using BKL one piece mounts on my RWS 34's. I have one on each rifle. I honestly have had no issues or problems with them at all as of yet. I think they are really good quality and solid. I may be getting another springer and have thought about trying the Sports Match mounts. They are a bit pricey but not really any more than the BKL. Now to my question I guess....bout time right? Anyone use the Sports Match on springers and your thoughts or experience with them. And what about two piece mounts/rings on a springer? I see some use two piece, I've only used one piece but part of that is for droop compensation. I'm looking toward a fixed barrel so that would not be a factor in base choice.

Thank you

I have BKL one piece mounts on both of my RWS 350's (177 and 22) and Sportsmatch rings on my Red Wolf. Both companies products are very well made. I would not spend extra to switch out the BKL's for Sportmatch, as the quality is similar.

I would consider the Sportmatch rings, or their one piece mounts, in applications where it is difficult to open the BKL splits, and get them to seat properly on the rail, though. The advantage being the screw on side plates of the Sportsmatch rings/mounts allow for easier fitting. Which, is why I am using the Sportsmatch rings on the Red Wolf.

Remnar, I appreciate your input as it does help me out. I've been pleased with the BKL's so there really isn't any reason to change I guess. I have just heard that the Sportmatch are among the best and I am a firm believer in quality mounts/rings and was curious as to weather there was an advantage of one over the other. You answered my question.

Thanks alot,

I have both, and both are excellent quality. For overall utility, I prefer the Sportsmatch adjustable rings. Maybe it's just my luck, but it seems almost every air rifle I have owned needed some amount of elevation compensation, which is easy with the adjustable Sportsmatch. And as mentioned above, the Sportsmatch rings attach with sideplates that are removable, so you have unlimited adjustment ability to clear barrel shrouds, or to fit on dovetails that are closed on the end. But, if the BKL work on a specific rifle, they are great rings.
