Bit the bullet

 I forgot to turn on the pump several times and overheated mine but it lived through it and has been werqing for a year and a half now. I overheated my new one that I bought, just in case I had troubles with the old one that I overheated several times, and it died shortly after. Me I think someone at the Yong Heng factory forgot to put locktight on the second stage piston myself. Parts to fix it were under $20 though. Try not to use an extension cord but if you must make sure it is short and has at least 12ga wires. That will save you troubles down the road.

After overheating my second compressor until it started smoking, shortly after I got it, I purchased a 20A switched box like an outlet strip and plugged my compressor and my pump into it. So now when I turn the box on so my compressor can be powered up the pump comes on without any thought.

Check list before you fire it up for the first time;

Check all of the fittings on the compressor and lines before you try to use it. I had several loose fittings on mine.

See that your water supply is close to the same height as your compressor so as not to overwerq the water pump.

Make sure you add the oil before you turn the thing on.

Make sure you turn on your water pump before you fire up the compressor.

Fill your guns and tanks above the height of your compressor to keep moisture out of your tanks and guns.

Purge the water from the system by opening the purge valves on your Yong Heng for a second or two every 4 or 5 minutes depending on the humidity where you are.

Release the pressure from the lines before you turn the pump off. Some will tell you you can let it turn off automatically or just turn it off before you release the line pressure. I have found that I blow rupture discs far less often if I do not fill above 4250-4300psi and I release the pressure before turning the unit off.

You can see I do not use the recommended 5 gallons of water and since I don't I use a bit of ice in the water so I can run for up to 20 minutes before it gets over 60 deg C.

The yong heng is a great affordable compressor. It will pay for itself. Just remember to turn on the water pump. Idk how people forget. But hear too many stories of people ruining their yong heng cause they forget to turn the water pump on. Maybe they should make a automatic water pump. Or put a big read sign on their yong heng. WARNING, TURN ON WATER PUMP FIRST!!!!! LOL
