My wife saw me sitting out back with the air rifle and proceeds to rip into me about killing innocent birds that aren't doing anything to hurt anybody. How could I be so cruel, she asked.

So I tell her I'm shooting cowbirds. She says she loves those birds and is looking like she's about to cry.

I said, did you know cowbirds look for other birds nests, roll the other birds eggs out, then put their own eggs in the nest for the other birds to hatch? They're parasitic birds and there are a bazillion of them.

She thinks about it for a second and says.... Don't miss!

LOL

So beware! They may love you today and put a bullet in you tomorrow!

I have a wife like that, I hear about it all the time, I am enabling air gunners to go out and shoot poor innocent birds and critters that don't harm anyone. I tell her that no matter if I make these or not, they are still going to hunt, but I have a hard time convincing her that what I make does not encourage shooters to do bad things, like selling a hand gun entices someone to rob a bank, lol I am also an animal lover and do not kill anything myself so I have to live with the belief that what I am doing is not actually encouraging air gunners to hunt animals JUST because their gun is quiet, Neil.

Mine is less than than thrilled about my obsession with airguns. She's a farm girl though and even though my nickname for her is the "bunny hugger" she will cheerfully eat wild rabbits I shoot on our place and has no problem with me thinning out the ground squirrels. As long as she doesn't have to watch or hear about it, that is! I already know I'm a lucky man.

Speaking of that...

Once my wife was out shopping and I was cleaning my gun. I had put the case on the bed and after I finished cleaning the gun, I just put it back in the case, but was too lazy to move it and decided to take a nap. My wife came home and found me asleep in bed with the gun next to me. I woke up and she was looking at me like I cheated on her!! She just shook her head and walked out of the room. LOL!

Ozone, thats a GREAT looking Shar Pei! I had a Shar Pei mix that I got from a shelter about 10 years ago. She was the sweetest thing and probably my favorite dog I've ever had. She ended up having kidney failure last year (the breed is prone to it) and the vet had to put her down at the end of the summer when she just couldn't go on anymore. That was excruciating. She did like to watch the squirrels out of the window though and would certainly chase them like all hell if I let her out. She could never catch one though haha. Enjoy your time with him!
