Best Table top Compressor recommendations

I expect the Yong Heng is likely the most popular smallish Chinese compressor. I got the one that lets you set the shutoff pressure and it has done well for a year and a half now. I have only replaced two o-rings on it thus far. One on the head and the other on the filter. The one on the head was likely due to me not turning on the water pump and overheating it three times. Mine blows the rupture disc to often if I go all the way to 4500psi so I only do 4200psi and then it does fine.

Most will upgrade the filter to a larger one.

Nice little setup you have and thanks for posting. I have been reading some on the Yong Heng with mixed reviews. Have you tried to run coolant instead of water? I would think the coolant would keep temperature contained better than water. Also the fear of contamination using water, probably could use a water softener or conditioner I guess

Not saying in every case, but in many, many cases if you buy something cheap it's not gonna last. I have an Omega Super Charger but if I had it to do over again, I would opt for the Omega Air Charger at $1,150 from Airguns of Arizona. The Super Charger is a great little compressor, but it has all the bells and whistles and you pay for them … of course the price has come down in recent years but it is still not cheap.

The Omega Air Charger is at least as good as the Super Charger and actually compresses air a little faster than the Super Charger does. Maintenance is almost non-existant, have only had to replace the water pump once and that took all of 5 minutes because I am slow, keep water in it and turn the grease turret one click every 6 hours … that's it! Have heard many reports that these units last for years and there are quite a few reviews on the Omega Air Charger on YouTube f you are interested.

I have been thinking of running coolant since I got it but never gotaroundtoit. The good thing about these is they are easy to werq on, parts are plentiful and easy to source. Oh, and cheap!

I have owned an Air Charger also for well over two years and no problems at all. As far as the grease...mine has a yellow sticker attached which says to give the grease cap 2 full turns every 4 hours.

In my opinion and speaking from experience. If you buy a Yong just get 2 so you have a backup and have parts on hand to rebuild or just jump to a $2k Daystate.

If you buy 2, you may never need the other compressor😃.

I should have done that lol. Lesson learned. I was one of the unlucky ones.

Sorry for the bad luck. You aren't the only one. Others have noted bad luck with YH's as well. But others have had good luck from the outset and I fall into that camp, for over a year now. I would really like to know which is more common, having one that fails quickly or getting a usable life span out of one. After all the posts here and other reading I've done, if my YH fails I think I'll probably get an Omega Turbocharger but may consider a gas powered Nuvair compressor as well.

Luckily the seller didn't bother to respond about honoring the warranty stated so it was escalated to PayPal. He then did not bother to respond to PayPal so I was awarded a full refund. I decided to take it apart. the piston pin had wobbled out the piston, the head gasket was puking oil, the case was actually porous so oil was leaking THROUGH the crankcase and an oring on the check valve had failed. This was after just a few tank fills and keeping it cool along with using royal purple and changing it after every use !

Sounds like you forgot to run the pump at some time and it failed just my guess

poor guess. I actually used a ton of ice for the piece of junk every time.

Hey guys there's a new competitor on the market priced fairly. The Hatsan compressor at $399.00 seems to be a little better quality.

still China based. Look at the guts.

What isn't made in China that doesn't mean anything

It does when they are based on the same compressor technology and parts. The oil level sticker on the Hatsaan is the exact one that is on the yong. Daystate isn't made in China, it uses and Italian pump and obviously at a substantial price increase but also a substantial difference in operation.

Sorry to derail the original posters thread but just know the risks.

And there has been more than one report of the Daystate compressor failing quickly. Sorry you use the word "junk" so generically. My Yong Heng has been useful well beyond it's cost. We'll have to agree to disagree.

I am not here to argue, just want the op to know it's not all roses on the cheap ones.

Yes, I am aware, they reverted back to the 3 stage from my understanding due to this. I am also confident that any issues that should arise will be handled promptly. For example, I needed a small replacement part for my DS from shipping damage and they promptly replied and mailed the part out for no charge. I understand that you pay for that convenience but It sure beats fighting with a seller that won't bother to respond to issues and you are left with a $250 paperweight or forced to order parts from Ali Express and wait a month plus. I forgot to mention my gauge failed too lol. It is stuck at 3,000 psi. really the only thing that hasn't failed is the electric motor. Cheers
